About Me

With over 20 years of experience communicating and working on and off the Internet, from dial-up Bulletin Board Systems to blogs, popular forums and virtual worlds, I spend a lot of my time finding and aggregating information, creating content and wrangling people over e-mail, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn while muttering to myself about content calendars, punch lists, and analytics. Enthusiastic and energetic, coupled with strong writing and strong people skills I'm constantly searching for and filling in gaps — connecting people together to do great things!

Although at ease organizing and managing multiple priorities on strategic and functional levels, I am detail-oriented and thrive on collaboration, change, creativity, and innovation. My daily activities vary from handling administrative and marketing issues for my freelance enterprises, Creative Wonk and Altered Artist, to establishing and coordinating client projects and programs, researching and compiling information and policy, facilitating inclusive art and writing workshops.

Connections

I'm constantly searching for and filling in gaps — connecting people together to do great things!  I have a passion for connecting like-minded creative people and a flair for interacting effectively with diverse groups of people. I love cultivating strategic partnerships and collaborations and nurturing opportunities with creative professionals, peers and peer assistants, volunteers, program coordinators and organizations.

Virtual World Explorer

I'm a regular resident  of virtual worlds, specifically Second Life. Once shunted to the side, its progress is worth your attention as a credible form of communication and doing business online! I've been immersed in Second Life's art community, explored the business and economics of a virtual economy and am interested in interpersonal communication in virtual worlds. I'm also a participant in the quickly growing field of virtual world photography. I'm currently culling through my archives to pull a collection of photos together for web publication. While I do sometimes post-process to further enhance photos, my focus tends to be on raw, untouched pictures of the world-as-is, documenting the ultra-fantastic people, places, and things within.

Blogging

I've written 1,000s of quality blog posts over the years all over the Internet beginning with my own blog style website in 1999. I have experience using most content management systems and Platforms including Moveable Type, Typepad, Blogger, Wordpress and others. I've also designed other blogs and websites, primarily for myself or friends, but am open to future creative opportunities. My insatiable skill to learn, adapt, and overcome keeps me going!

Social Media

I've been active on just about every significant social network out there. From Facebook to Linked In to Twitter and beyond. In my wild twenties, I was an active BBSer, pre-Internet, even. I have always been fascinated by the ways human beings communicate with each other. I have a deep and abiding interest in the melding of relationships, community, culture and technology.

Fine Art & Craft

I've been creating art that does’t match your sofa since 2000. My assemblages, collages, encaustics and constructions have been seen by audiences all over the United States and are owned by collectors in Virginia, Washington D.C, California, New York and England. I teach small workshops and offer art tutoring in my studio several days a week.

Superlative Writing & Editing

Writing ever since I could a pencil, I've written, edited and published everything from poetry to creative non-fiction to feature and academic articles to grantwriting, copy writing and web content. I've collaborated, ghostwritten and had had several articles published in various women's spirituality magazines over the years. I was fortunate to have been a contributing editor at theThe Beltane Papers with Marione Thompson-Helland from 2001 to 2003 and have since consulted on and edited private projects for clients and colleagues.

Being Nice

Whether you like it or not, I'm one of the nicest people you're going to meet. Get to know me and find out firsthand.
