Roxie's Hair Designs & Tanning Salon Facebook and WIX Pages

To promote Roxie's more, I have maintained a Facebook page to quickly communicate specials and promotions to fans of the page. I periodically upload photos, often invite new fans to like the page and frequently update the page's status. This artifact displays my technological experience as well as good communication skills. The number of "likes" has doubled during my time as the salon's social media specialist.

Objective

Throughout all of my working and college experiences, I have had many opportunities to meet, interact and serve all kinds of people. In fact, from Fall of 2010 through Spring of 2012, I was a Fort Hays State University Anderson V.I.P. student ambassador. As a student leader, I was chosen to represent FHSU at official campus events, and as a member of this on-campus organization, I had the chance to work with President Hammond and campus officials in hosting special events. As part of this group, I was able to professionally network, enhance my communication skills and ultimately give back to the university.

Whether it be on the job or during a extra-curricular experience, one thing I learned along the way is that everyone should be treated as a V.I.P. As a communication studies major with a public relations emphasis, I believe I have gained the skills and knowledge to take on the challenges a recruiting career may bring. Growing up, my parents always taught me to treat everyone as I would want to be treated as well as do the absolute best I can in everything I do. These life lessons and my own personal experiences have molded me into a very hard worker and someone who truly and sincerely cares for others. Looking back at my time as a V.I.P. student ambassador specifically, I like to think of my future as an opportunity to continue to serve others and treat everyone as a V.I.P.

My portfolio is divided into five sections: VIP Student Ambassador, Event Planning & Implementation, Design, Social Media and Class Projects. The VIP Student Ambassador section will illustrate specifically what I have done as a member and how I have been able to network and polish my communication skills. The Event Planning & Implementation section shows a timeline of weekly tasks, a donor letter and form I created, a photo taken a few minutes prior to the event as well as a script of what I personally said during the event’s opening. In the Design portion are examples of group and individual designs developed for both academic and work-related purposes. The Social Media section includes an extensive research paper I conducted as well as proof of the social networking I have done for my current employer. Finally, the Class Project section demonstrates collaborative and individual research I have carried out. All sections illustrate the writing, teamwork, design and communication skills I believe will assist me in a successful career in recruitment.
