I am one of twenty-one  Digital Learning Coaches at Frisco ISD. I was a classroom teacher for 13 years and completed my Masters in Educational Technology in 2002. August 2018 will begin my 17th year at Frisco ISD as a Digital Learning Coach (DLC).

As a Digital Learning Coach, I assist teachers in using technology effectively for assessing student learning, differentiating instruction, and providing rigorous, relevant, and engaging learning experiences for all students. Additionally, I conduct needs assessments, develop technology-related professional learning programs, and evaluate the impact on instructional practice and student learning.

Responsibilities and Duties of a Digital Learning Coach


  • Assist in developing a vision for technology and long-range planning at the campus and district level
  • Actively participate in campus and district committees and leadership teams supporting digital initiatives


  • Plan with teachers to create/plan activities that utilize high levels of technology integration (SAMR’s Modification and Redefinition)
    • Attend collaborative team planning at the campuses
  • Co-teach in classrooms with the goal of providing job embedded professional learning for teachers
    • Consistently promote and model best digital learning practices
  • Promote Digital Learning Essentials infusing the five C’s to support the PLC Essential Questions
  • Meet with departments to assess needs and to create/suggest curriculum technology integration ideas or projects
  • Work closely with librarian for brainstorming integration/research lessons with teachers
  • Work with Curriculum and Instruction to write curriculum with technology integration
  • Write Digital Citizenship lessons and assist teachers in working with students to learn online safety
  • Continually investigate emerging technology resources and tools/evaluate their potential impact on instruction
    • Implement new hardware/software
  • Investigate and test new iPad apps for teachers before deploying them to campus devices
  • Organize/schedule/facilitate videoconferences


  • Design, implement and support learning opportunities for teachers  intended to build capacity and expertise in the use of instructional technology to support all learning
    • Develop training materials including handouts, instructional videos, and online courses
    • Trainings during PLC’s and various staff professional learning opportunities
    • Instructional technology online courses
    • Curriculum and Instruction online courses
    • Work with PL Cadre teams
    • Provide training for emerging technology such as: mobile devices, MakerSpaces, coding, Google Apps, Moodle, etc.
    • Participate in professional learning at the campus, district and state level.
    • Train, support and help teachers and students with the use of the Student Learning Hub and Google Classroom
    • Train and support staff in maintaining grade level websites for parents/students

      • Review/Analyze results for campus goal setting and reporting to the state.
    • Campus support for state online testing (TELPAS, STAAR, End of Course)
