Designed and carried out a $25K, highly budget-conscious, renovation project including demolition, bamboo flooring, carpeting, stone flooring, stairway refurbishment, drywall repairs, baseboards, painting, countertops, plumbing fixtures, shelving, and lighting.

$30M single-family, custom home designed by leading architectural firm, Bohlin Cywinski Jackson  Unique elements include glass pavilion with floating roof structure and 13ft. high pivoting glass doors, glass and wood slat wall corridor linking bedrooms, silent kitchen, air-floors and radiant heating, ultra-modern integrated sound and media systems.

  • Managed and coordinated over 55 subcontractors with up to 140 tradesmen onsite at the height of construction, including 70 highly skilled woodworkers and carpenters.
  • Successfully translated complex architectural vision into reality by implementing innovative and unprecedented construction techniques, such as remote refrigeration compressors for silent kitchen, retractable door hold open system for 13' x 6' glass, pivot doors, and an invisible smoke detection system.
  • Coordinated the efforts of the architects, engineers, subcontractors, and city officials to find acceptable solutions to missing details or problems of constructability.
  • Reassessed critical path schedule using Microsoft Project, aggressively stacking trades to shorten original project duration by 6 months. Documented impact of over 1000 architectural changes and owner requests tocompleted project within an approved timeframe.
  • Maintained good working relations with a highly involved client living on-site for a large portion of the project.

$22 million, 93,000 sq ft, tilt-up concrete panel construction with post-tensioned flat-plate superstructure.

  • Initiated project start up, while training two project managers in the use of corporate management systems.
  • Trained entry level Project Engineer in proper document management, expediting, and progress reporting.
University of California, Merced - Site and Infrastructure, Merced, CA

$55 million site development and infrastructure project including: site grading, underground utility tunnel, architectural bridge, underground utilities, 2-story central plant building, and a potable water pump station. 

  • Supervised the simultaneous construction of a wide range of time-sensitive site and infrastructure elements required prior to subsequent building phases.
Bloomingdale's, Las Vegas, NV

$10.6 million, 10,000 sq ft home furnishing retail store with 2 levels of steel construction built atop an existing underground parking garage.

  • Managed all on-site activities allowing Project Manager to work out of main office in San Francisco, therefore significantly reducing project costs.
  • Coordinated efforts with general contractors managing adjacent projects as part of a $1 billion, 1.9 million sf. mall renovation.
CNET Corporate Headquarters, San Francisco, CA

Shell and core construction involving seismic strengthening of an existing 80,000 q ft concrete building which was then seamlessly tied into 80,000 sq ft of new construction including 4 levels of concrete structure and 2 levels of steel construction. 

  • Brought on as an innovative problem solver to assist in improvement of project schedule. Coordinated 24-hour construction schedule for late arriving elevators, bringing project completion date in line with client's requirements.

Program Manager

  • Provided relief in the form of shelter to 1500 families who lost their homes following the pro-integration militia's violent response to the August 1999 referendum supporting independence.  Managed warehousing, coordinated distribution and monitored construction of semi-permanent housing in two remote sub-districts.
  • Collaborated with UN Transitional Administration (UNTAET), local leadership structures, church representatives, and communities to execute shelter project and to ensure its continued effectiveness
  • Established the formation of Los Palos field office and provided for all logistical needs, progress reporting, administrative tasks, warehousing, security issues, and management of 14 local staff.

$70 million renovation of Macy's flagship store including seismic upgrade of existing structure, demolition of two buildings, 225,000 sf. of new poured-in-place concrete construction with glass and granite facade, and 700,000 sf. of retail interior construction. All completed while store remained open to the public.

  • Developed skills in evaluating and documenting field problems, maintaining and updating contract drawings and documents, reviewing submittals, procurement and inventory of materials, progress reporting, scheduling using Primavera and processing changes to subcontracts all under the tutelage of an exceptional project manager on a high profile, multi-faceted project.
  • Managed closeout of the project and handled post construction requests from the client.

  • Conducted a technical analysis of the sewage system for the Municipality of Zomba (pop. 100,000) and prepared a report used by the government of Malawi to obtain funding for repairs.
  • Collaborated with local government officials and tribal leaders to obtain $15 million in World Bank loans for 6 different municipalities for funding of infrastructure improvements and income generation projects including: market construction & upgrades, water taxis, and fire truck repairs.
  • Researched lakeshore sanitation and waste management problems by meeting with local leaders, school officials, hospital administrators, resort owners, and port authorities. Issued report at federal level for use in implementing improvements.
  • Managed all logistical details for a 10-week training program for 30 trainees and 20 trainers including the procurement and distribution of supplies to 40 host families in remote African villages.
