Senior Advisor to a startup company that provides equipment and personnel to movie, TV, music video, commercials, and other productions. Credits include MTV Video Awards, Marley and Me starring Jennifer Aniston, and many other projects. Currently (summer 2009) working on "Work of Genius" (art reality show) which debuts this fall on FOX.

Marketing & Business Development Manager

Snarfware LLC

Responsible for marketing and business development in a startup Internet software development company.Charged with creating a marketing plan and assisting user interface design team for a RSS program (Really Simple Syndication), a new Internet technology enabling users to gather and read information from hundreds of websites without actually visiting the websites.

  • Developed creative marketing plan to acquire new users via PPC, PPV, and online advertising campaigns which grew user base 1000% to make Snarfer the leading RSS desktop software.
  • Captured significant portions of the RSS market by redesigning program interface.
  • Brand development and licensing to Fortune 1000 companies.
  • Negotiated and managed advertising campaigns that included Google, Yahoo, MSN, eBay and CJ.
  • Led successful effort to place Snarfware LLC as an M&A candidate with leading Internet concern.

Due to record of success, remained on board global media company following acquisition of previous employer, FerretSoft. Managed Software Division and team charged with developing new software. Major activities included P&L management, corporate growth, programming, implementation testing and support initiatives, business development, customer support, and business relationship management. Directed team of seven professionals and managed $2,850,000 budget servicing over 3M users.

  • Created viral marketing program leading to the acquisition of 250,000 new users year over year.
  • Drove marketing with leading Internet PPC and PPV advertising companies leading to extremely high rates of return making the software division the most profitable at CNet.
  • Directed company’s most profitable division. Led team that released the final version of WebFerret and closed down division as company leaders decided to abandon technology update initiatives. Trained a single engineer to handle all software maintenance issues and transferred technology support to the General Support Division. Effort will enable company to generate between $1-$4 million revenues yearly until 2010 with a 85% net margin.

Managing Partner

Led international investment team that owned this privately held company which designed Internet search software. Operational role included P&L management, strategic planning, strategic alliances, investor relations, revenue generation, cash flow management, accounting, sales, marketing, new business development, public relations, client acquisition, legal issues, technology needs assessment, software and website development, new technology feature designing, project management, vendor relations, and more. Managed five Programmers and Customer Support Professionals, and controlled a $1,600,000 budget.

  • Launched company by negotiating a deal with a group of investors to fund company and enable staff to finish developing a technology product that had been abandoned by another company. Obtained Visas for Engineers and relocated them to Ohio to work on WebFerret and other Internet software, including EmailFerret.
  • Driving force behind company’s success; achieved profitability in the first year. Without investing any dollars in public relations or advertising, acquired over 3 million end-users in 30 months. Seven years later, software is well-known and still utilized on a daily basis across the globe.
  • Won the prestigious Shareware Industry Foundation’s People’s Choice Award in 1998.
  • Grew the company from $0 to $23 million and successfully sold company to CNet in 2000.

IT Systems Specialist

Joined global home appliance manufacturer on a contract basis and leveraged technology background to participate in a $2+ million upgrade project. Collaborated with IT Department to implement a company-wide system LAN and PC workstation upgrade project. Following deployment, trained staff on new equipment and software applications.Components to technology project included software and hardware installations and providing Windows, Lotus Notes, MS Office, AutoCAD, and workstation support.

Distribution Operations Manager

Hired by a retail store chain with 640+ stores in North America and challenged to design, build, and manage a 15,000 sq. ft. live animal distribution center. Operations included P&L management, hiring and training staff, overseeing supply chain/logistics and distribution of tropical fish to 100+ national stores, merchandising, purchasing, sales, risk management, and more. Managed a team of 25 direct and 120 indirect reports, and controlled an $8+ million operating budget.

  • Reported directly to COO.
  • Established a new distribution center and operational infrastructure in less than 90 days with operations in full swing 30 days later. Project was under budget and ahead of schedule.
  • Designed and implemented software to track loses and help manage inventory of livestock.
  • Shifted company losses from 38% before new distribution center to less than 6% subsequent to building new center. Instrumental in helping business generate $30 million per year in revenue.

Aquatic Import & Export Corp.

Co-founded business with international partners to import and sell marine tropical fish throughout the United States and Canada. Scope of activities included P&L management, budget management, operations, sales, marketing, supply chain management, logistics, supplier relations, technology implementations, and working with US Customs Agents and US Fish and Wildlife Department representatives. Led a 15-person team servicing 120 stores.

  • Catalyst in building new business from the ground floor in concert with international colleagues and driving annual sales to more than $2 million.
  • Curtailed shipping losses and improved net profits 35% by implementing better shipping methods for fragile tropical fish.
