Understanding Applied syllabuses

This course provides guidance for the planning and explicit teaching of cognitive verbs. The course is appropriate for teachers of all subjects across years 7 to 12 as the processes explained can be readily adapted and applied to the explicit teaching of any cognitive verb and the associated cognitive process. The course complements the Years 7–10 and Years 11–12 Cognitive verb toolkits.

Understanding Applied syllabuses

This course is an online module for teachers of Applied syllabuses designed to assist teachers in understanding and implementing Applied syllabuses in their school contexts.

This course complements learning undertaken in Accreditation courses 1, 2 and 3.

Checking for understanding

This online course expands on the guidance provided in the Strategies that check for the understanding toolkit. It supports teachers in enhancing classroom practices that improve learning and student readiness for assessment. It is suitable for teachers of any year level or subject background.

Understanding General and Applied (Essential) syllabuses

This course is an online module for teachers of General, General (Extension) and Applied (Essential) syllabuses and is provided to support teachers in the delivery of the Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) system. This course outlines how syllabuses have been developed to inform teaching, learning and assessment. It provides advice on tools that can be used in:

  • planning teaching and learning experiences
  • constructing assessment instruments
  • using marking guides.

Academic integrity course for teachers

This course is an online module for teachers of senior syllabuses in Queensland to support their understanding of academic integrity and academic misconduct. The course complements the QCE and QCIA policy and procedures handbook Sections 7 and 8.

In advance, Kirk is always organised and prepared for each lesson. His lesson sequences link and flow very well and all students are engaged and learning. One of the reasons for Kirk's successful learning experiences was that he laid a foundation at the beginning of his prac where he explicitly took the time to get to know his students and to understand their strengths and weaknesses. With this information, Kirk created a graphics organiser based on each student's interests and their strengths within the classroom. He has used this information to design and plan out his lessons catering to their learning characteristics and abilities. Kirk was able to set successful learning ‘S.M.A.R.T’ goals for each of the students and measuring out their outcomes using the success criteria. Kirk also developed a user-friendly learning wall where he displayed student's work and achievements.
