Safety Information Business Programme Manager

Nov 2011 - Aug 2014

CIO - Head of IS

Head of Information Services at the European Aviation Security Agency, a body of the European Commission.

2007 - May 2011

Chief Information Officer, IT Director

Bekaert Textiles Group, Textiles industry

I shaped the newly instated CIO position (former model: local IT managers without global strategy) by focusing on IT organization local and global, defining short and long term IT strategy, creating Business Alignment and demonstrating the IT added value. Followed by a review of the Enterprise Architecture in function of standardized processes, leading to selection and roll-out of a new global ERP covering all processes, including Manufacturing and Supply Chain.

My initial focus was on Business Alignment and gaining in-depth knowledge of the business (Gen Mgr, BU mgr, Line Mgr) by voluntary attending their review and strategy meetings, thus identifying current and future business needs. Created direct “day-to-day” relationships with business (the days of the “IT ivory tower” are long gone) and ensured IT suggests solutions, and is not only being reactive by the business demand.

I initiated an Enterprise Architecture/Process Alignment review resulting in a desired “to-be” Process Map. Management workshops lead to harmonized processes through selection of both internal (BUs/Countries) and industry best practices.

Scoped and lead a full ERP scope implementation (SAP plus add-on niche-package “OMP” for specialized Forecasting and industry specific Supply Chain optimization).

Guided the Change Management programme including organizational changes in conjunction with HR.

Solved the problem of “multiple versions of the truth” by introducing Business Intelligence : a greenfield Data-Warehouse/BI set up on top of existing legacy systems AS400.

Implemented Sales, Finance and Supply Chain related solutions + Business Intelligence front-end (reports, dashboards, KPI using MS BI and Cognos). Served as base for conversion to BW/BO in the SAP roll-out.

"Marketing and Sales Force optimization", correlating relevant base data and generating strategic analytics and reporting allowing Market Research, Product and Sales Managers to analyze the effects of marketing campaigns, ensuring better and faster decision making around future marketing efforts and Sales Force optimization. Proven measured Marketing funds effectiveness and re-sizing of Sales Force.

“Sales Force Effectiveness”, providing in-cycle bonus forecast calculation and assisting Sales Force to reach their (and the company) targets by identifying what to focus on next. Also included positioning on performance (“how are you doing vs. your colleagues”). Proven measured Sales Force effectiveness and motivation increase.
