A native of Iran and a U.S. naturalized citizen, entrepreneur Khosrow Semnani advocates for policies that protect the Iranian people and promote a future of democratic governance, social justice, personal security, and economic opportunity. As the founder of Omid for Iran, Mr. Semnani collaborates with like-minded individuals to create partnerships, propose solutions, secure resources, and make possible projects that bring positive changes to the lives of the Iranian people. In addition to his Iranian community advocacy efforts, Khosrow Semnani engages in other philanthropic activities. In 1993, he founded the Semnani Family Foundation in honor of his grandmother, who served as a family role model for giving back to the community. The Semnani Family Foundation provides funds to projects that benefit marginal communities in the U.S. and internationally. Included among the foundation’s funding recipients are fifteen different religious organizations as well as the Red Cross, Oxfam, LDS Humanitarian Services, Global Health Alliance and UNICEF. The Semnani Family Foundation provided initial start-up support for the Maliheh Free Clinic, a nonprofit organization that provides free medical care for low-income and uninsured individuals and families. The foundation continues to provide ongoing support for the clinic. Khosrow Semnani graduated with a B.S. in Chemistry and Physics from Salt Lake City’s Westminster College. He later earned his Engineering Administration degree from the University of Utah. He completed his education while employed in Utah’s industrial sector. Mr. Semnani worked in scientific research for Kennecott Utah Copper and engineering management for Thatcher Chemical Company and Unisys for over a decade. In 1981, Khosrow Semnani founded his own firm, which focused on nuclear and toxic material processing and disposal, providing services to U.S. Federal Agencies and the nuclear power industry. Today, as the CEO of S. K. Hart Management, Khosrow Semnani manages the company’s real estate holdings, which he seeks to expand. Additionally, Mr. Semnani plans greater involvement in international opportunities, such as his farming projects in Africa, and envisions investments in renewable energy ventures. He resides in Salt Lake City with his wife and three sons.
