I also  took the opportunity to travel extensively throughout Australia and South America. 

I have recently returned to Sydney and am currently temping while searching for full-time employment.

Senior Account Executive

My role was a combination of driving and supporting the execution of day-to-day account activities for healthcare/pharmaceutical and entertainment client campaigns.  Key projects/clients worked include GlaxoSmithKline, Peplin Inc (skin cancer treatment) and SonyEricsson.

  • Client Service: seeing projects through from inception to completion and ongoing client liaison (keeping client abreast of all project activities and influences via phone, email, meetings and formal reports) while ensuring high quality standards at all times.
  • Media Relations: strategically sell-in stories to the media, organise interviews, identify relevant story angles, respond to journalist requests, monitor/evaluate media coverage.
  • Budget Management: research costs for potential projects, develop client budget proposals and create monthly client budget-status reports and invoices.
  • Develop Communication Materials: research, prepare and write effective program elements, ie press releases, video news releases, client reports, media reports, pitch reports/presentations and brief client speeches.
  • Build a Network of Industry Contacts: develop and nurture positive relationships.

Executive Assistant to the Managing Director

My role was to provide full professional support to the Managing Director of EMI Music Australia, organise and manage the company's events and perform a high degree of diverse tasks to ensure the smooth running of EMI's Senior Management Team's operations and business practice.

  • PA Duties: assisting on all business issues, diary management, inbox/email management, call screening, office management and keeping MD abreast of all relevant internal and external news and activities.  Also undertook personal tasks when needed.
  • Global: regular liaison with key global EMI territories and the company leaders (based in the UK).  Often organising travel for the company leaders and coordinating elements of their business and personal trips to Australia. 
  • Event Management: presenting concepts and ideas to management, project implementation, budget management and conducting post-event feedback surveys.  Event projects included national conferences, professional band performances (full band and acoustic), Christmas parties, album launches and corporate hospitality.  Also responsible for trialling venues/restaurants to recommend for potential company use. 
  • Internal Communications: work closely with the Head of Human resources and assist with devising and implementing communication strategies.
  • Working Relationships: develop, nurture and maintain strong, positive relationships with key industry stakeholders and EMI employees (globally).
  • Presentations & Reports: compile/prepare MD's weekly report to be sent to EMI global heads, draft/prepare presentations for MD's local and global needs, format/prepare complex reports (ie Business Review Reports) as well as assist the COO when required.
  • Travel: organise worldwide travel for MD and assist all staff/artists with their travel plans.  Also, responsible for the upkeep of EMI's Global Travel Database - Australian section.
  • Innovation Panel: selected as one of EMI's innovative fresh-thinkers - the panel's objective was to break from convention and produce innovative ideas to influence/change EMI's approach to doing business.

Reason for leaving: To seek a new challenge. With the support of EMI, I attained a new PR qualification and wished to put this into practice (there were unfortunately no suitable opportunities at EMI).
