Summary

Kate Gillette graduated from The University of Colorado at Boulder with a degree in Spanish for the Professions. During her undergraduate study, she spent a semester abroad in Alcalá de Heneres, Spain, and, upon graduation in 2006, moved to Cuenca, Ecuador to teach English. In 2008, she accepted a position with a local Dallas nonprofit organization devoted to community revitalization with a foundation in education. During her two years there, she developed skills in volunteer and project management as well as organizational development through active participation in fundraising and grant writing. She spent the summer of 2010 volunteering at an HIV/AIDS clinic in Vaalwater, South Africa supporting staff operations and HIV/AIDS awareness programs. Backpacking across countries, working at nonprofit organizations and volunteering in South Africa have enhanced of my ability to deal with ambiguity and complexity. In her past experiences, she has shown the ability to transcend boundaries and work effectively across cultures, race and income levels by building genuine relationships, not only with those whom she works, but also those whom she serves.Kate is a second-year MBA candidate at Thunderbird School of Global Management, focusing on Development and Management. After traveling in many developing countries, Kate’s experiences have motivated her to combine her passion for social change with the knowledge gained from her MBA degree to create positive change through business. She is eager to join an organization where her business knowledge will be applied, challenged and expanded, and where she will be part of a team that is motivated and encouraged to innovate promising solutions to some of our generation's most challenging issues.
