Director of Web Development

Everyone at Sway is a “creative” — and pretty much all of us cringe at the use of that word as a noun. We’ve built our shop on the backs of a handful of extremely talented writers, designers, developers, and producers that work collaboratively.

I managed a team working on websites, display advertising, and content. I also coded projects as a director who "does".  I'm also worked with the management team on new business, agency processes, and more.

Digital Strategy Lead [Technology]

An experience agency based in Richmond, VA specializing in full-spectrum digital product development as well as UX/design, development (native and web), and strategy capabilities.

At Mobelux, I led production including technology and strategy for our most significant engagements. Maintaining product quality and project scope from inception to launch and beyond was a major responsibility. I would also step in to assist when an implementation got too tricky. I oversaw how a project's technical requirement impacted the business while working directly with clients and partners to make quick sense of their evolving needs.

Current Clients/Engagements

Neighborhood Goods - My team designed and developed their entire technology stack. The platform includes a custom GraphQL Shopify API/CMS, Bluetooth micro-location for in-store delivery and assistance. Products created include digital signage, native application with location features, responsive e-commerce site, and a native associate application. We worked with their team on strategy then executed all UX/design/development in-house. Since the initial launch, we released multiple versions of a native application and new web code was released daily. Other cases/examples are available by request.

S2

Technology Director

A digital content solutions provider in Richmond, VA focusing on retail content (live motion and animation), social media, and digital menu boards. Previously a division of The Martin Agency and now operating as Tilt Creative.

S2 had the daunting task of running the Walmart Smart Network (in-store digital signage). The Network began as an all-video platform but when it moved to a web browser powered player, it made sense for me to join the S2 team. I was able to bring modern JAM stack concepts in to play. The first thing was making sure our digital footprint was substantial. I scaled dynamic campaigns to 20,000 in-store screens and grew the digital menu board footprint from 0 to 2,500 screens.

Management

  • Oversaw and defined technology initiatives.
  • Mentored creatives, developers, and producers in the digital design and development process.
  • Managed technical relationships with network partners and technology vendors.
  • Led multiple cost and time-saving initiatives, for example, training design team to use more efficient tools.

Technology Product

  • Developed projects (websites, in-house tools, DMBs) in HTML/JS/CSS.
  • Defined and developed processes for the digital team's workflow.
  • Created and managed project documentation.
  • Managed and resourced the development team.
  • Development based in OSS, React, Node, PHP, LAMP, LEMP.
  • Managed key stakeholders' expectations by presenting milestones, maintained definition, timing, and kept them in the loop at the appropriate fidelity.

Business Development

  • As a trade show team member, I built landing pages, emails, presentation applications, as well as the trade show booth itself. Also, I worked with the team on the trade show floor.
  • Collaborated with creative/strategy/business teams for new business ideation.
  • Created and presented new business pitches.

Production Manager

A regional arts publication established in Richmond, VA.

My duties were managing the print and design scheduling, managing freelance jobs, coordinating print/editorial schedules, ordering photography, scanning, retouching, typesetting, and ad creation. I was responsible for printing budget, production of final print document, and press checks among many other undertakings. A favorite achievement here was that in reworking the entire production process, I succeeded in trimming the prepress budget by two-thirds.
