A recent addition to Southeastern New Mexico Surgery in Hobbs, New Mexico, Dr. Kermie Robinson was formerly the head of his own practice in Georgia. Currently providing both inpatient and outpatient procedures, Dr. Kermie Robinson comes to the surgical center with over 18 years of experience in medicine. Trained at some of the top educational institutions in the country, Dr. Kermie Robinson possesses both a Doctor of Medicine from New Orleansâ��s Tulane University, as well as a Masterâ��s degree in Public Health from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. A dedicated student, Dr. Kermie Robinson studied for both degrees concurrently, earning them both by 1985. His medical career was built on the foundation of his undergraduate study at Xavier University, where he graduated cum laude with a BS in Chemistry in 1981. Interested in teaching early in his career, Dr. Kermie Robinson worked as a tutor to fellow students as an undergraduate. Later, Dr. Kermie Robinson served as a Clinical Instructor at the Morehouse School of Medicine in the Department of Surgery, in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Kermie Robinson additionally taught medical students and surgery residents for Grady Memorial Hospital. During his time at Grady Memorial Hospital, Dr. Kermie Robinson held positions on the Critical Care and Cancer Committees. Dr. Kermie Robinson is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and specializes in bariatric surgery, having directed the Bariatric Surgery Program at Rockdale Medical Center in Conyers, Georgia. With years of experience performing minimally invasive hernia and intestinal surgery as well as thyroid and parathyroid procedures, Dr. Kermie Robinson brings the expertise of a veteran surgeon to his new position at Southwestern New Mexico Surgery. Over the years, Dr. Kermie Robinson has functioned on a number of committees and occupied leadership roles, serving on Flushing Hospital Medical Centerâ��s Intensive Care Unit Committee and acting as the Chairman of the Department of Surgery for Rockdale Medical Center as well as the Chairman of East Metro IPAâ��s Credentials Committee. Lending his medical knowledge to his new community in Hobbs, New Mexico, Dr. Kermie Robinson spoke at Lea Regional Medical Center for Breast Cancer Awareness Day in October 2010.
