Skills

Skilled in Microsoft Office

I am advanced in Microsoft Office. In addition to growing up with a father who is proficient in all things computer, I am ending my fall semester with an A in CS 102 and I plan on continuing my education next semester in the next level of Microsoft Office Skills.

Community Service

  • Last year I participated in an organization called "Up Till Dawn" that helps raise thousands of dollars for Saint Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
  • I have also participated in Ali Kemp Band Stand for the past two years. This is an event that teaches women young and old self defense against potential threats. Following is a concert to raise money and remember Ali Kemp, a former student at Kansas State University who was killed the summer after her freshmen year by a stranger.
  • Speed Read is an organization that raises money in order to donate books to unfortunate children who otherwise cannot afford them. This helps to better their education and vocabulary through reading. I have participated in speed read the past two years and hope to continue.

Long Term Goals

My long term goals are to become gainfully employed as a registered dietician and help obese children live healthier lives.Helping people and seeing others succeed is a passion of mine. This is why my carrer choice of a registered dietician is so important to me and my future.

Organization Membership and Activities

In the summer of 2009, I was invited to join the Pi Beta Phi Sorority. After accepting I realized how beneficial joining a sorority actually is. Pi Phi helped me get involved around campus from chalking names around campus for student elections to helping overtime with community service and philanthropies. Of all things Pi Phi helped me to learn time management is definately at the top of the list. Having a job on top of being a full time student is already tricky but throwing in hours of meetings, dinners, and philanthropies on top of that is what made me excellent at managing my time. I'm thankful for this because I know that time management is one of the most important skills needed to be a registered dietitcian.

Short Term Goals

  • As a student at UA my short term goals are to get my degree in Human Nutrition and begin a distance internship in order to sit for my RD exam and become a registered dietitian.
  • Prior to this I hope to get more involved around campus and the community. Giving back is important to me since I have been so blessed in life.
