Kent Houppert was the Owner and Operator of a furniture retail store when he began Bible study and decided to take up a new vocation. After over a year of close study and deep conversations about the Bible, Houppert decided that he needed to begin work as a full-time minister, focusing particularly on youth ministry. In 1997, he became a Youth Pastor at Canandaigua Baptist Church in Canandaigua, New York. In this position, Houppert led a youth group of over 100 students and developed leadership programs for young members. He also worked with adults in the community to help coordinate the efforts of his students. In the summer, he led groups on missions around the nation and to Peru. Since this experience, Kent Houppert has held three Youth Pastor positions in Illinois and New York. In his most recent post at Grace Community Church, he focused on expanding the involvement of the youth group in the community and abroad. Some of Houppert’s work has included developing partnerships with local park districts in order to establish soccer programs for at-risk children. He has also partnered with YouthWorks, a Christian ministry that presents a diverse catalog of opportunities to interested youths to practice their faith and perform beneficial service in the community. Moreover, Houppert helped to develop a mentoring program between the adults and youths at Grace Community Church in order to foster positive and productive relationships within his church community.Additionally, Kent Houppert has regularly led missions to Haiti where the church has sought to maintain a presence. He has been involved in the building of an orphanage and in the support of a number of schools and churches.
