Philosophy of Nursing

My personal philosophy of nursing is based in the belief that nursing is the culmination of science, skill, art, and compassion that is centered on the objectives of caring for individuals, families, and communities. It is my belief that the care given to others is optimized when it is driven by ethical values, compassion, and is derived from evidence-based outcomes.Nursing care should be provided in a holistic manner and possess the qualities of respect, dignity, and integrity. Nursing professionals should recognize that individuals are unique, and should be espoused to respect cultural diversities, while delivering care that addresses both health and illness in a manner that encompasses the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual aspects of the human experience.I also believe that nurses should forever strive to be advocates, communicators, educators, and critical-thinkers that are constantly challenged to seek education that keeps skills and knowledge in alignment with modern advances and technology.
