Front of House
This is my part time job at a local Chinese takeaway. I work there every Saturday from 4:30PM to 9:00PM. My job there is to take orders in the shop and over the phone, and also to hand the orders out/organize deliveries. This job requires good communication skills and ability to cope under pressure when it is busy. I feel that I have developed these characteristics through my 3 years of work there.

Audio Visual Technical Assistant
I volunteer at my church youth group helping out with the Audio Visual systems whenever necessary, and this has allowed me to develop my understanding of computer systems in another different environment.
Jun 2011 - Aug 2011
In the summer of 2011 I was selected to do a 6 week project at Heriot-Watt University in the Chemical and Process Engineering Department. I designed and set up a control system to regulate the biomass level in a cell suspension. I had to learn an entirely different GUI based programming language, LabVIEW, and write code to control the hardware to run the system. This experience taught me further the interaction between software and hardware, and how great a part computing plays in the field of science as I saw the versatility of programming to tackle real life problems. Separately from the computing aspects I gained an insight into university learning. For the majority of the project I was left by myself to research and understand the equipment and methods, and I had to motivate myself in order to complete it.

In addition to studying at Balerno, I have also been elected the Head Boy for the school year 2011/12. Through my duties, such as organizing meetings to writing and delivering speeches, I am developing valuable leadership qualities including good time management as I also have to study for 3 subjects. I believe this post reflects my responsibility, reliability and confidence in meeting the expectations of many.
