  • Through effective negotiation efforts, developed and executed a plan with the primary vendor to move application support in-house, substantially reducing annual support fees and minimizing IT security and compliance risks.  
  • Worked with Mail pharmacy operations and Finance leadership to identify areas of opportunities for automation of manual tasks.  Have deployed several enhancements that greatly improved efficiencies, including the automation of manual calls, new and transfer prescription requests, auto consenting based off patient drug therapy history, and integrating use of a bank lockbox.  
  • Led teams that built and managed a product suite of software, hardware, support, and services that was 100% adopted by franchisee pharmacies and of which allowed the pharmacy staff to spend more time performing tasks that take care of the patient.  Involved working closely with technology vendors. 
  • Through process improvement, catapulted department's gross margin 33% while slashing operational expenses 57% and reducing staff by 26% through transition from a pure expense model to a revenue generating model.
  • Championed conversion of nearly 300 franchise pharmacy locations into a single, common technology platform. Led implementation of nearly $10M of systems (project lasted 2 1/2 years). Managed marketing, contracting, network configuration, procurement, licensing, training, and implementation operations.
  • Built and led a team that supported the identification of risks and associated mitigations for the Healthcare Reform implementation of 40+ PBM clients, covering several million lives

Integral leadership role in Agile IT team within this highly respected Mail Order pharmacy.

Key component within sizable Agile IT department, working closely with the IT development and QA teams, Project Managers, and key business stakeholders to effectively and efficiently create and enhance IT products serving a pharmacy mail operation.  Was brought onboard this relatively new organization due to my extensive experience building solid teams and my knowledge and success creating and driving strategies.  Introduced processes to create a product vision and product roadmap that can be easily communicated and understood by business, and executed upon by IT.  Developed and led multiple ideation and strategy sessions with business that specifically tied IT work to business goals with measurable KPIs.  These sessions have now being adopted as common practice.  Role includes the development and maintaining of vendor relationships, to ensure the vendor is on track and appropriate expectations are set.  Frequently utilize vast experience with Pharmacy Management Systems to make decisions or provide consult to others.

Developed both strategic and tactical business plans to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of data exchanged with chain and independent pharmacy customers. Led the standardization of open systems/ interfaces for the secure exchange of pharmacy data to and from vendors and clients.

Orchestrated the operations of a department comprised of over forty team members across 5 teams charged with supporting pharmacy system users and franchise owners throughout over 1200 pharmacy locations within this Fortune #21 company. Spearheaded the efforts of data management and back-end processing specialists, providing data analysis, database design, and testing, during a large transformation within the company. 

Was recruited into the organization at a time of challenge for the organization, with the current system implementation efforts not proving successful.  Using pharmacy technical knowledge and business acumen, I built a team and forged a plan that proved very successful.  I coordinated application development, user support, professional services, internal/external training, and system implementation efforts. The result was nearly 300 systems being implemented on time and under budget.  Post implementation, I managed and improved upon the resulting product consisting of a suite of software and services that allow pharmacies to be more profitable and more efficient. Worked closely with technology and product vendor communities at executive levels to drive product efficiencies, reliability, and service. Controlled multi million- dollar budget as well as all aspects of technology vendor contract negotiations. Cultivated productive industry relationships within NCPDP (National Council for Prescription Drug Programs) and ASAP (American Society for Automation in Pharmacy) standards organizations, addressing topics such as healthcare reform, electronic prescribing, and pharmacy/healthcare data standards. Primary liaison with pharmacy technology vendors, recommending system upgrades and enhancements to ensure company maintained up-to-date with the latest technologies and advancements.
