Officer Class Two, Band Sergeant Major (BSM) with The Band of the Parachute Regiment within The Corps of Army Music. I have working knowledge and experience in organising a variety of high profile military and civilian events,responsible and managing 35 musicians. Having served 25 years within HM Forces as an accomplished musician/soloist (saxophone), I have by virtue of training and promotion through the ranks accrued the following skills, abilities and experience qualifying through the following courses:

Musicianship: As an A1 musician I have performed at the highest level within a Concert Band as a soloist, Saxophone Quartet, Trad Jazz Band, Big Band and various ensembles for many events, for example: The Royal Tournament,
Edinburgh Tattoo, HRH Garden Parties, Charity Events as well a Ceremonial
Duties and numerous concerts across the UK and abroad. I am an
accomplished manager in instrument leadership of Brass, Woodwind and Percussion of an established Concert Band. Secondary and Supporting roles throughout my service are as follows:

Accounts:  On completion of the Service Fund Accounting (SFA) course.
For two years I was the Band Accountant. My responsibilities included, double book keeping, expenditure of all property, instruments and sundries including purchasing and selling and servicing, auditing, insurance, contracts for engagements, expenses and payments.

Librarian: For six years my duties as Librarian (music), I was responsible for
the upkeep of over 3,000 scores of music, from Classical to Jazz and other
genres for many ensembles and arrangements. During my time within the
library I successfully updated the library system from hard copy (Kalamazoo)
onto a full software programme for music libraries. I was also responsible for
purchasing new music scores.

Office Manager and Administration: I have good communication skills,
written and verbal, military and civilian. My responsibilities were to organise the band daily work programmes leading to engagements, tasking and training and updating the band diary and forecast of events. I was responsible for the collating the standard operating procedures (sop’s) for: Security, Fire Officers and Health and Safety in the workplace. I also arranged the transport, feeding and accommodation for events and engagements, liaising with outside security agencies.

Welfare Officer: As Welfare Officer I was able to relate well with people at all
levels with a firm and fair attitude in sensitive situations confidentially and
sympathetically. Responsible for 35 Musicians and their families.

On completion of relevant courses, I established my own restaurant from
scratch, employing nine staff. Responsible for complete running of the
business, gaining full experience at all levels within the trade. Due to the
economic climate, I subsequently sold the restaurant at a profit 2/3 years later.
