Thoughts on Ministry

Ministry Statement

Behold how good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity! It is like precious oil poured on the head....For there the Lord bestows His blessing, even life forevermore. (Psalm 133, NIV)

These verses have been the foundation stones on which my 18 years of ministry have been built.Experience shows that ministry—and people in general—can have a messy side. But when God’s people come together, united in the purposes of lifting Jesus high, dedicating our lives to growing in Him andliving out the LIFE of God in front of others and with each other, God’s blessings pour down upon us.

Ministry Goal

Still other seeds fell on fertile soil, and they produced a crop that was thirty, sixty, and even a hundred times as much as had been planted! (Matt. 13:8, NLT)

I see our times of corporate worship accomplishing mainly two things.First, our worship is a personal time for us to minister to the Lord by declaring to Him and to each other His worth and character. Secondly, worship should be a time to cultivate the soil of our hearts so that the Word of God, through the preaching, can be planted deeply and produce a healthy, vibrant and active crop in our lives.

Selected Productions & Special Events

Reaching out with joy and lifting up Jesus so that He will draw people to Himself have been the goals in producing major seasonal theatrical events, patriotic programs, parade participation and worship events. They also have yielded extensive administrative and managerial experience. Examples include:

Christmas in Avondale, St. Johns Presbyterian Church, 2010-2013

  • Repeat invitation by Avondale Shopping District in Jacksonville, FL, to provide music for merchants’ Christmas festival.
  • Contemporary worship team, band, choir and tech team perform sacred and secular holiday favorites for thousands of visitors.
  • As a result, SJPC has seen a 25% increase in regular continuing attendance over the past two Christmas seasons.

Evening of Arts, Full Faith Church of Love, 2001

  • Worked with team to develop a fine arts ministry providing all types of artists with fellowship, outreach occasions and worship of the Lord Jesus through artistic expression.
  • Initial result: an “invite-your-friends” Evening of Arts, featuring a gallery of Christian artists’ works and an hour-long dance and music program.

Behold the Lamb (BTL) Easter Production, Full Faith Church of Love, 1996-2000

  • Led staff and cast of more than 200 volunteers annually in portraying the ministry, crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
  • Attracted thousands of people to the 12-show run each year.
  • Utilized professional quality music, drama, dance, special effects, costuming and stage.
  • Stewarded an average $60 thousand show budget each year raised solely from ticket sales.
  • Roles included producer, director, conductor, choir & orchestra director, member of scriptwriting team, songwriter.
