Marketing Strategist and Content Creator

On a strategic and tactical level I've worked on teams to get the most out of each marketing plan.  While working in television, I developed strategies and tactics that with the help of my staff, enabled ratings growth in local news, syndication and prime time programming.  Since moving into the healthcare field, I have worked with assigned strategic business units to develop marketing plans associated with business development growth.  I've also been responsible for all video production, media planning and placement for IU Health Bloomington.

I've spent a good portion of my career working in television and video production.  From :30 sec promos and psa's to full length programs and live sports and news production, I've had a career of experience that has helped me hone my skills.  I've worked live sports production with ESPN and ABC and have worked at network affiliates around Indiana including WISH, WFIE, and WSJV.

IU Health Bloomington-

  • 2011 Hoosier Chapter of Public Relations Society of America award for a video seeking to raise awareness and money for an inpatient hospice house facility in Bloomington.
  • 2011 Gold Hermes Creative Award (Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals) for Hospice House video that sought to raise awareness and money for an inpatient hospice facility.
  • 2009 AVA Platinum Award for "We Are Bloomington Hospital" campaign. Human Resources Image Campaign for current and future Bloomington Hospital employees. Wrote, Produced, Directed and edited 30 second spots that run in theaters and on the web.

  • Public Relations Society of America Pinnacle Award- 2008 Regional Cancer Institute Marketing Campaign

  • Public Relations Society of America Award of Honor- Renee's Story- Video patient story about a young woman's struggle with breast cancer and her ultimate triumph.

  • The Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals Hermes Creative Platinum Award- 2008 Regional Cancer Institute Marketing Campaign

  • The Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals Audio/Visual Award- Renee's Story- Video patient story about a young woman's struggle with breast cancer and her ultimate triumph.

  • Winner of an Internal Association of Business Communicators'  EPIC Award for the 2007 Cancer Annual Report.


  • Increased viewership at FOX28 WSJV through marketing and promotional strategies, resulting in television station's first ever "FOX Number One Club" entry in 2005; repeated in 2006

  • Won an Associated Press Award for direction and production of a television news feature on the South Bend Center for the Homeless

  • Helped develop "The Five Degree Guarantee," the top weather brand in the market and moved the promotion to our web site where the call to action, image and contesting messages prompted at last count about 12.7% of the market to sign-up for the Five Degree Guarantee. Awareness and participation were both increased.

  • Wrote, produced, directed and edited the highly acclaimed "Palm Sunday Tornadoes: 30 Years Later;" a documentary about one of the five largest tornado outbreaks in U.S. history.

In addition to the experience listed above, I served in several additional capacities at WSJV including Assistant Creative Services Manager and Producer/Director.  I have also worked at WISH in Indianapolis, WFIE in Evansville and WTIU in Bloomington.  And I have had the opportunity to freelance on a number of projects in my career including producing corporate videos for Indiana State Chamber of Commerce, working on various Drum Corps International World Championship broadcasts, working on crew of a few John Mellencamp music videos and working various sporting events with ABC, ESPN, CBS and Sports Channel Chicago.  More detail can be provided if needed.

Responsible for on-going marketing and communications efforts for several Service Lines including the Regional Cancer Institute, Home Health and Hospice and Ambulance Service.

Directly responsible for video and multimedia production for internal and external use.  Serve in various rolls during video production including, Producer, Writer, Director and Editor.

Work on all media planning and placement for budgeted advertising within Marketing and Community Relations.

*Developed ION, Bloomington Hospital's real time communication device that delivers multimedia messages including video and sound to flatscreen high definition monitors around the Hospital campus and off site locations. Messages designed for internal and external audiences. Goal push the hospital brand awareness in the minds of consumers and employees alike while also provide key messaging and information to diverse audiences.
