Omaha ITT Technical Institute

Assist the Academic Affairs Dean accomplish daily educational objectives, plans and programs for (5) College Technology Schools (Electronics Technology, Information Technology, Criminal Justice, Computer Drafting and Design, and Nursing) consisting of over 600 adult learners. Also teaches four "Strategies for Problem-Solving, and Strategies for Technical Professionals" courses. 

  • Manage the leadership, training and professional development program for (7)-Full-Time and 42-Adjunct Professors by ensuring quality instructions, regulatory compliance and customer satisfaction. 
  • Develop and implements student retention strategies that achieve quarterly retention objectives.
  • Improve ITT's year-to-date YTD gross drop attrition rates against current year-budget.
  • Organize and manage systems for conducting quarterly faculty classroom and laboratory observations.

Kiewit Construction Company

Develop programs, processes, and grow competitive advantage for one of the Nation's largest Fortune 500 general contractors. Privately owned, employing 9K in a dozen divisions, with $1.7B in new business.

  • Managed Kiewit's $50B future tunnels construction programs and tracked corporate CRM databases by creating processes and "Focus A-list" of high-priority projects with net market-value exceeding $4B.
  • Analyzed ½;-dozen competitive markets, identified and forecasted opportunities, developed nationwide operational strategies and business tactics spanning complex 7-yr start-up period.
  • Negotiated proposals, coordinating hundreds of simultaneous planning projects administering private investor and public capital investment programs budgeted with an average market value of $390M.
  • Developed management processes and databases containing multi-year and demographic strategic planning scenarios, 000s' of project summaries, status reports, and prominent client presentations.
  • Designed prioritized future work processes used on 100 projects across (3)-dozen States and Canada.

Union Pacific Railroad

Supervise Conductors and direct operations for the largest North American railroad, Fortune 200 ranked, employing 50K personnel, and $16.3B annual revenue, operating rail systems in 23 States, plus Mexico.

  • First year's performance led to promotion as Operations Manager of 2-decentralized train depots.
  • Orchestrated and directed 24/7 train dispatch operations for carriers throughout NE, IA, MO and KS.
  • Provided logistical, administrative, operations and training support for 52-direct report unionized conductors, creating cooperative working environments for management and craft employees.
  • Ensured safe and efficient, year round, rail transport of diverse, high-value commodities by instituting rigorous, but fair safety and training development programs for operating personnel.
  • Assured operating personnel complied with government regulated operating rules in normal and hazardous environmental conditions, rewarding and/or disciplining personnel as appropriate.
  • Enhanced productivity, managing 24-hour operations for 12 consecutive months with supervised personnel safely transporting freight over a million miles, exceeding service unit matrixes.

Manage Staff of 10 military and two-civilians conducting educational, logistical and administrative duties for University ranked 1st for 13-years amongst comprehensive Midwestern Colleges, with 1K employees.

  • Developed training curriculum that received American College and DOD accreditation approvals.
  • Taught History to 80-ROTC Cadets, while serving as academic counsel to an additional 20 students, achieving 98% success rate with 36 of 37 graduating on time, exceeded national average by 5%.
  • Organized /administered leadership development program and mentored 120 Cadets nationally.
  • Synchronized combat training scenarios concurrent with briefing and evaluating 10 Regiments averaging 300 Students each, as the Warrior Forge, Situational Training Operations Officer.

Corps of Engineers

Provide executive oversight of the Military Construction branch of the 2nd largest Corps of Engineers District, a Fortune 200 ranked entity, undertaking international projects, with 1.2K staff.

  • Ensured proper expenditure of a ¼;-$Billon congressionally approved annual military construction program by 22-engineers and architects assigned to the planning, program and project branch, completing over 90% of these Army and Air Force projects on time and within budget.
  • Performed monthly budget reviews and customer relations meetings to ensure infrastructure alignment, solve crisis problems and commission facilities for 23-DOD clients located in 10 states.
  • Coordinated and facilitated a Missouri River Roundtable conference involving dozens of government agencies affected by planned or emergency events along River Basins and Watersheds. Results led to substantial development of the Congressional approved Mo River Master Manual.
  • Organized and led visits throughout Midwestern States for Corps of Engineer Chiefs, Senior Executive Service representatives and other military representatives addressing National security.
  • Coordinated sensitive personnel, equipment and financial resources, with US based and Allied Force liaisons, while forward deployed during Balkan's Bosnia and Kosovo humanitarian assistance crisis, ensuring completion of construction and mobility projects in hazardous duty environments.
  • Negotiated a US-Germany contract dispute that resulted in saving the US Dept of Treasury $1.2M.
