Summary

I see a strong need for proper nutrition education, and I desire the opportunity in which I can be that light that can make a difference in someone’s health and wellness. During my junior year of high school I participated in an Athletic Health Care and Fitness vocational program. The instructor for the class encouraged us students to question common nutritional beliefs and develop our own opinions based on the research we had done. After that I began learning and developing my beliefs and became fascinated with the role food plays in our body. I personally experienced a struggle with food growing up and I feel that I am able to relate to others going through this same struggle. Being able to provide the information and support that they need to get to a healthier place has been my drive to get through the rigorous educational requirements of an RD. All of the time and work put into it is forgotten by the personal satisfaction you get from helping someone become healthier. Being a part of someone regaining their health is a special thing and I hold that very close to my heart.

Something as simple as food has this tremendous impact on almost everything in our body and how it functions.Having people appreciate that and have an understanding that food acts as a medicine, to maintain, prevent, and treat diseases is very important. As living creatures, we need food for fuel, and educating people on the proper fuel to help support an efficient body is crucial for living a healthy lifestyle. I look forward to the day I can make a difference and share my passion for nutrition with others.
