A veteran tax accountant, Katrina Swan Hansen holds Tax Manager responsibilities with Windham Brannon in Atlanta. She regularly reviews partnership agreements with the aim of accurately dividing income among partners. She also manages four of the practice’s 10 major real estate client accounts and provides experienced management of nonresident alien tax returns. Katrina Swan Hansen’s activities extend to low-income taxpayer assistance in coordination with the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. Before joining Windham Brannon, Ms. Hansen was a Staff Tax Accountant with KPMG, one of the four top auditing firms worldwide. Working from the firm’s Atlanta office, she focused on preparing federal tax forms 1065, 1120-F, and 1120, as well as required state tax documents. She notably provided a diversified real estate and auto-racing firm with consolidated returns and helped with a KPMG intern-mentoring program. Earning her Master’s of Taxation at Atlanta’s Georgia State University in 1996, Katrina Hansen accepted her first position as Tax Manager with Jamestown, an Atlanta real estate management company. Her day-to-day duties included Foreign Investment in Real Property Tax Act, and Disposition of Investment in Real Property matters. Ms. Hansen handled a variety of issues related to nonresident alien income tax returns, including §7701 residency considerations determined by the substantial presence test. Engaged professionally with individual and partnership clients, she responded efficiently to state and federal tax notices. Ms. Hansen earned her BA in French Literature at Emory University in Decatur, Georgia, and continues to enjoy reading French novels to this day. Ms. Hansen’s community activities include contributions to Hosea Feed The Hungry and Homeless, which helps underserved people throughout the Atlanta metropolitan area.
