Controlled the register handling tasks such as checking items out, merchandise exchanges, merchandise returns, and assisting with any other guest needs.

Acted as floorstock doing tasks such as putting merchandise onto the shelves, organizing the shelves, assisting guests on the floor with any questions they may have, and assisting register if needed.

Performed as door greeter and welcomed guests into the store and also telling guests to “Have a magical day” when they leave the store.  Assisting with any questions such as directions to an area they are looking for.

Worked as Prep in the basement.  We collect all of the items off of the pick list and send the items that need to be re-stocked out to the floor stock people to be re-stocked.

Performed as Merchantainer and put on mouse ears and a backpack walking around the store.  I fix things that are in the wrong spot and put them in the appropriate area.  I walk around engaging with the guests and helping with any questions they may have.

Operate computer system “SIRSI” to locate materials.

 Assist patrons throughout the library, including help locating materials, assist reserving materials, and assist with checkout or return of materials. 

Assist Maintain “Holds List”, including collecting materials and record keeping.

Review and execute library policies as they are presented from management.

Respond to incoming phone calls, providing assistance or facilitating accurate results for patron requests.

Participate in planning, preparation, execution and cleanup of children’s events held in the Children’s Department.

Provide backup assistance to librarian when she is on break.

Oversee and respond to any item placement issues.

Frequently requested to perform art activities on weekend programs with Students

Perform full “shelving” responsibilities including shelve the books, shelf-read the shelves, edge the shelves and clean & vacuum the shelves and the books.

Perform miscellaneous activities such as answer the phones, taking surveys of how many people go in and out of the library, assist patrons with the self-check machine (OPAC), work in the work room (meaning check in the books that are being returned, clean the books and other items, and check in the returned items).

Students are introduced to general expectations, guidelines, and tips that promote professionalism in the workplace. Discuss business etiquette standards and recognize the impacts of professionalism on credibility. 

Acing the Interview

Learn the basic strategies to market yourself before, during and after an interview. Also get insight on the 50 most commonly asked questions.

Resume Writing 

Develop an effective resume by uncovering the myths, and dos and don’ts of resume writing. This class does not include time for individual resume review.

Volunteering with the Disney VoluntEARS

I packed up boxes filled with shoes and accessories that Disney had donated to charity.  I went to a warehouse and collected different types of shoes, bags, sunglasses, scarves, etc. and put them into boxes to be sent off to different charities.  Every item was still in it's packaging so that the charities were aware that they were getting new items.  

Corporate Communications

The Disney corporate communication course explores how global companies communicate with key audiences, both internal and external to the corporation, to achieve their strategic goals. The course evaluates various communication functions and highlights the methods companies use to gain a competitive advantage and reach a variety of publics including customers, investors, employees, media, government and communities. The purpose of this course is to engage students in the analysis of communication as a vital management function empowering contemporary organizations to lead, motivate, persuade and inform various publics. As a result, students will gain practical and strategic knowledge of Corporate Communication in our global society.
