8th Grade English Teacher

Robertson County Schools

As an 8th grade literacy teacher at Springfield Middle School, I was data driven, using formative and summative assessments, as well as DEAThinklink and TCAP data to "backwards plan" learning goals/lesson objectives. I saw  considerable growth in my students' DEA Thinklink scores - from about 14% proficient and advanced to 47% proficient advanced. My students' growth didn't stop - my students exhibited superior growth on TCAP (Tennessee's Comprehensive Assessment), earning me a level 5, superior rating, as a Tennessee Educator.  I was one of the highest performing ELA teachers in Robertson County.

Aside from developing curriculum and planning engaging lessons, I took pride in providing my students with a well-manage,  safe and respectful learning environment.

Other skills/responsibilities related to my this teaching position are teacher and student advocacy, collaborative planning, mentoring, parent and community relations, and  organizational skills.  I am accomplished in these areas.

English as a Foreign Language Tutor

Global Learning Strategies (Homeschool Friend)

I worked as an independently contracted tutor with Homeschool Friend.

Homeschool Friend is an online English language learning that not only aims to create English fluency and other language skills, but also to establish global relationships and build character.

The language program is designedfor the tutor to instruct 1-4 students during each class. Each complete lesson can be either 30 or 50 minutes in length for the Korean student. The English tutor will have no more than 30 minutes to teach per class. Lessons are taught 4 days a week for a 16-week period, which completes the program and the tutor's commitment. Thereafter, the tutor may commit to teach another 16-week program. As well, the tutor may choose to teach multiple classes in each of the 16-week programs, as they are offered by Homeschool Friend.
