If all of my interests were to be listed it would most likely look very random, but I will attempt to name a few.  I love food!  I enjoy learning about it, cooking it, eating it, and sharing it with other people who appreciate it just as much as I do.  This leads me to frequently browse magazines and cookbooks for ideas and inspiration.  I also love coffee.  Coffee houses make me happy, and I could not start my day any other way besides enjoying a warm cup of joe.  I absolutely adore the beauty of summer.  I enjoy seeing families taking walks in the warm evening sun and having cookouts with friends.  There is something about summer that just makes me smile.  I love spending time with people.  I have always taken pleasure in throwing parties and entertaining.  Anything that requires creativity always seems to pique my interest as well.  If it's fun, requires creativity, or involves helping people count me in!

Through both education and experience, I am skilled in the following areas:

  • Computer Proficiency - Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills - major in Interpersonal Communication
  • Organizational and Planning Skills - acquired from leadership responsibilities in student organizations in college as well as through event planning and coordinating through previous job experiences
  • Curriculum Development- developed training programs and courses on various subject matters and for various audiences
  • Project Management- managed projects for various company initiatives

Almost two years ago I made the decision to take a new position in a new department at Zappos.  At one point in my college career I had decided that being a teacher was not the road I wanted to go down, so I changed my major accordingly.  Somehow that road found me again as I entered this new field at Zappos.  Training and development quickly became my passion.  I love seeing people change and grow, and I love being a part of that growth.

Susan Walker

Susan was my manager when I first became a Junior Cultivator of Culture at Zappos.  At that time, the department was starting from scratch.  Susan can attest to my strong work ethic, organizational skills, creativity, and strong sense of team.
