Summary

I facilitate the discovery, access, use, management, and analysis of spatial and descriptive data using GIS and related technologies, and enable people through mapping and data visualization to make better decisions and solve problems.

GIS & Technology

  • ESRI ArcGIS Desktop and Enterprise 10.X, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, MapInfo, QGIS, CartoDB, Google Earth, Open Street Map;
  • Proficient in best-practices cartographic principles and map production: georeferencing, digitizing, orthorectifying, geotagging/geocoding/reverse geocoding, DEM and Hillshade creation/management, ESRI geospatial analysis including Network Analyst, Spatial Analyst, Geostatistical Analyst, 3D Analyst tools;
  • Basic proficiency using Erdas Imagine 2015 for geospatial raster data processing and digital image enhancements;
  • Programming logic and coding fundamentals: C++, ESRI ModelBuilder and basic Python (GIS workflow/automation), SQL, VBA, XML, HTML;
  • MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access;
  • Adobe Creative Suite:  Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator;
  • Project Management: Gantter;
  • Productivity apps: Evernote, Keynote, Google Docs and Google Drive;

Geospatial/Data Management  

  • Fundamental understanding of the design and use of RDBMS and other Geodatabase Administration tools to facilitate geospatial data management solutions - MS Access, SQL Server, SSMS, ArcSDE, PostgreSQL with PostGIS and Geoserver, pgAdmin, Modeling, ETL, Scripting/Loading/Storing Vectors and Rasters, SSIS, FME, GeoBlacklight spatial repository, Cloud-based source (Amazon AWS instance - EC2) with Remote Desktop, ESRI ArcCatalog and ArcToolbox;
  • Proficient with the applications of SQL for database querying and Access VBA for database design;
  • Meticulous file management, metadata management (FGDC, ISO) with great attention to detail and QA/QC.

Research

  • Research experience and robust data acquisition skills from public domain and private data sources, particularly within the US Census Bureau, Texas at the State/Regional/Local levels, USGS, Natural Earth, Energy, Real Estate, and Economics;
  • Strong Google and Internet search skills;
  • Keen understanding of SEO, search engine indexing and keyword usage;
  • Familiar with search innovations including typeahead, relevancy and personalization.
