8214 Parking Control Officer

Under general supervision, the PCO patrols an assigned area for the purpose of enforcing vehicle parking regulations, and to perform other related duties related to parking enforcement. The essential functions include : patrolling the streets in an assigned area and issuing citations to vehichles that are in violation of California Vehicle and Traffic codes, which may even be subject to removal from city streets. A PCO while out in the field will also monitor corridors and when needed direct traffic for both vehicle and pedestrian traffic, operating monitoring a 2-way radio, making notes of actions taken in the line of duty and then preparing detailed reports that explain the parking and traffic regulations that are in violation.
PCO's also lift and install immobilization devices, lift and position cone and barricades for street and lane closures, operate a motor vehicle, and follow Department Policies and Procedures while taking directives from supervisors and be able to clearly communicale orally and professionally in a manner to all that is effective; this includes co-workers, supervisor, dispatchers and to the general public., whether it be in person, via telephone or 2-way radio, at all times.
