I graduated from Purdue University, obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology. My aspiration to better understand the field of communication has developed my skills in interpersonal and mass communication, intensive writing, persuasion, advertising, and public speaking. All of which have contributed to my proficiency in being a well rounded an effective communicator. These strengths in combination with my extra-curricular work and activities have enhanced my social skills and knowledge of global media.
During the summer of 2009 and 2010, I was employed as an intern with The Mutual Fund Store in Louisville, KY.It is an investment advisory firm with 65 locations across the country. In a small office, I was able to apply classroom teachings as my responsibilities grew throughout the summer. These included daily trade reconciliation for client accounts, developing asset allocation models for partners utilizing proprietary software, assisting partners in office audit procedures and providing feedback on radio marketing campaigns.
While attending Purdue I was an active member of the (AWC) Association for Women in Communications and the (AAF) American Advertising Federation. Both organizations connect students to their peers and future employers through a series of workshops and networking opportunities. I also spent time working with the student published online magazine HerCampus that focuses on Purdue’s current events and student life.
After having graduated, I was able to pursue my life long ambition to travel. I secured a one year working holiday visa in Australia and spent approximately six months working various jobs and traveling until I had completed the full circumference of the country. Following my completion of Australia I spent the next three months exploring the cultures of South East Asia. Indulging myself in an array of different cultures has been a remarkably enlightening experience. It has broadened my vision and taught me invaluable lessons I will carry with me in all aspects of life.
