Outline Power Transmission Lines (SWITCHYARD): 400 KV switchyard of Super Thermal

Power Station is the most vital switching station in the southern Grid.2600 MW of Bulk

Power generated by three 200 MW units and four 500 MW units of NTPC is evacuated for

supplying to the southern states.

Switchyard consists of four 400 KV busbar systems fed by 7 No’s generator feeders, 10 No’s

of 400 KV feeders, 3 No’s of 220 KV feeders and two No’s of 132 KV feeders.

POWER SYSEM AND POWER QUALITY: Conventionally, Static Var Compensators (SVCs) have been used in conjunction

With passive filters at the distribution level for reactive power compensation. Due to their

limited bandwidth, higher passive element count that increases size and losses, and slower

response make them away for the modern day distribution requirement.
