I. Summary

I am a driven high school junior with a passion for learning. The main focus of my education has been in the sciences, namely chemistry, which is the area that I would love to pursue in my college career. I am interested in mostly everything in the chemistry field in order to be able to apply my knowledge in a broader field. I have had life long aspirations to attend the University of California, Santa Barbara following high school. However, other schools I am considering are Colorado State University in Fort Collins and the University of Denver. I am very involved in my school both in the form of extracurriculars and sports, including being the only girl on the boys wrestling team for the past two years. I am a  hardworking and focused student and athlete and I would  love to apply my studies in the world to make a difference.

IV. Extra-Curricular Activities

  • 3 year varsity diver- I have been diving for my whole high school career and I am considering pursuing it in college. Some of my accomplishments include
  1.  Coach's Award
  2. Captain Junior/Senior years
  3. 3 time CIF competitor
  4. Most improved diver award

  • Wrestling- I have been the only girl on the boys wrestling team the past two years. It has definitely been a challenge struggling for acceptance as an equal, however I have found a place on the team and am now viewed as part of the team and not "the girl." It has taught me much about breaking down gender barriers and working hard in order to gain respect based off of who you are and not a preconceived stereotype.

  • Pink Ribbon Club- The pink ribbon club is a club at my school that I have been involved with since the very beginning. We are dedicated to the fight against breast cancer and we organize and volunteer at events that support those battling breast cancer. I was treasurer my sophomore year and I won an award for the most amount of volunteer hours put into the club in the same year.

V. Interests and Community Service

I am focused on being a leader in my community and want to make a positive impact on those around me. I was selected to attend  the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards 2015, a leadership award camp dedicated to fine-tuning my leadership skills in order to make a broader impact on my community. With the skills I acquired I plan to find a way to make my school and my community a more positive and welcoming place to live.

I have also completed many hours of community service in my Pink Ribbon Club experience, including making care baskets for those enduring chemo at a local cancer hospital and volunteering at large events such as the Susan G Komen 3 Day Walk and the Making Strides Walk San Diego. I am committed to the fight against breast cancer and plan on continuing my service to the fight against this disease long after my high school career.
