I have been studying at the UCY since September 2009. The course is called Computing and Internet Technology and covers a wide range areas to do with ICT. In the first year these included:
Year 1 Level 4, 73% Overall (Distinction)
Course description (what i have been learning):• Computer Systems - PC hardware and operating systems• Programming 1 - Structured programming with Java• Database Systems - Relational database design and implementation• Systems 1 - Systems analysis and design (SSADM Techniques)• Internet technologies - XML, AJAX and related technologies• Web development - XHTML, CSS and related technologies
I have Now completed year one of this course with a Distinction and also have received an extended Qualification from Cisco which was the IT Essentials: PC Hardware and Software.Year 2, Level 5 Current, 70.92% (Distinction)Course description (what i have been learning):• Network design - Wired and wireless Local Area Networking• Programming 2 - Object-oriented programming with Java• Systems 2 - Advanced systems analysis and design (Agile and Soft Systems Methodology.• Internet application development - Web applications with database back-ends• Work-based project – http://www.chardct.org.uk/• Human computer interaction – Interface design
I have Now completed year two of this course with a Distinction and also have received an extended Qualification from Cisco which was the Cisco CCNA Exploration: Network Fundamentals.
I also help out friends and family members with ICT based problems that are within my capabilities I offer help, support and advice for people who require it. I have been doing this for a few years now and enjoy helping people with their PC problems.
I have volunteered for the church crèche rota which means I take part in helping on the crèche rota once or twice a month. I really enjoy participating in the crèche and find it very rewarding.I also now help with the 11-16 year old youngsters at the church which involves helping with the youth groups on Friday night and on Sunday morning

During week two I enjoyed working with the employees I worked alongside an experienced employee who showed me how to fiberglass and the different amounts of resin you need for the perfect finish. I got a chance to prepare a mould for Fibreglass and Fibreglass a mould on my own.

During week one I enjoyed working with the employees. I also enjoyed being taught how to use different machinery. I was also given my own project towards the end of the week which I was able to complete on my own with minimal help from other employees. The project involved building a set of wooden doors that were actually going to be used in a customers house.
