Designer / Creative Developer

Tiltworks Inc.

Responsibilities:

  • Part of a creative team responsible for producing screen printed apparel graphics for major brand names. Clients included Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Universal Studios, Hard Rock Cafe, and Ron Jon Surf Shop.
  • Involved in the creative process from planning stages through to final execution of a design. Worked in conjunction with a Product Development team to ensure brand consistency and stay current with fashion trends.

Accomplishments:

  • I contributed many original concepts during our creative meetings that eventually became popular, profitable t-shirt designs.
  • My proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator increased while at Tiltworks, and I was able to assist my co-workers with various technical issues.I also developed a better understanding of brand identity and character design.

Computer Lab Monitor

Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing a Mac computer lab used by photography, graphic design, and videography students.
  • Troubleshooting and assistance involving Adobe Creative Suite software, particularly Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign, and Final Cut Pro.
  • General maintenance and upkeep of iMac computers (approx. 20 machines), printing station, and scanners.

Accomplishments:

  • By working with students directly to solve their technical and artistic issues, I allowed my supervisor (a professor) to devote more time to teaching and administrative duties.
  • I was able to help students increase their technical and artistic proficiency by working one on one to solve problems. This benefitted the program as a whole because students were able to use software and generate ideas at a more advanced level.

Retail Associate

The Chocolate Fetish

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation and packaging of premiumAmerican and European style chocolates in accordance with food safe standards.
  • Answering customer questions regarding the origins, ingredients, and manufacture of premium chocolates and confections.
  • Counting and maintaining inventory
  • Fulfilling shipping orders, both U.S. and overseas.

Accomplishments:

  • I directly contributed to the store being voted"The Best Candy and Chocolate Shop in Western North Carolina" in 2007.
  • Within a month of my hiring, I was made a key holder and entrusted with counting down registers and preparing bank deposits.

Responsibilities:

  • Unloading delivery trucks and maintaining flow of product between warehouse and retail areas.
  • Executing planograms on a daily basis, ensuring that an item’s placement and pricing are correct.
  • Maintaining a back stock of product by arranging items in a logical and easily accessible way.
  • Communicating with retail employees and customers to create a less stressful shopping experience.

Accomplishments:

  • I worked as part of a team to accomplish tasks that seemed impossible at first, which was rewarding both personally and professionally.
  • Working very early hours to ensure that the customer would have a good experience the moment that the doors opened for business.
  • By helping and interacting with departments outside my own, I expanded my technical knowledge while helping to create a sense of teamwork and interdependence within the store.

Retail Associate / Design Consultant

Millennium Music

Responsibilities:

  • Operating a register and assisting customers with their book and CD purchases.
  • Managed a small team that initiated a unique music trading program (known today as abundatrade.com).
  • Opening and closing duties, including cleaning and maintenance of inventory.

Accomplishments:

  • I created a number of shirt designs and signage for Millennium Music. This went beyond my regular job responsibilities and I received no extra pay, but I really have a passion for music, art, and supporting local businesses.
  • I directly contributed to Millennium Music being voted “Best Store for Used CDs, New CDs, and Staff” in 2006 and 2007 by the Charleston City Paper.
  • By ordering product (CDs) that would not have been in the store otherwise, I attracted new customers to Millennium Music by ensuring that their musical needs (however obscure) were met.
  • I often acted as an intermediary between different departments, helping to streamline the operation as a whole.
