David Bell

I am a dedicated and experienced teacher of language and culture.  My research and employment history have given me the opportunity to develop a unique perspective.  My teaching style is an effective combination of linguistic analysis, cultural exploration, and experiential learning.

I believe my strengths in teaching can be traced back to experiences at summer camp.  Teaching English to speakers of other languages became important to me after volunteering to teach recent immigrants to the USA during and after college.  I have nearly 15 years of training in Chinese, both colloquial and literary, completed in the USA, Beijing, and Taipei.  Translating has been an important skill for my research, and also enriches my classroom methodology.
