Summary

Expansion and business development in emerging International markets is a primary area of growth for many industries. Among those emerging markets, China provides the greatest growth potential with the most immediately realizable opportunities.

In the past year I have worked as a member of the Asia Product Strategy and New Business Development team that had lead responsibility in defining the product portfolio for China for Chrysler. As the only member of my US-based team fluent in Mandarin Chinese, I was the given responsibility in leading vehicle level product plan discussions with potential joint venture partners. Using my engineering background and familiarity with the culture, I worked as the link between the US-based product strategy and development teams and the joint venture partners in defining the vehicle level content and feature changes to market requirements and increase forecasted market share, while reducing manufacturing complexity.

Prior to beginning discussions with any joint venture partners I would be given responsibility for creating ‘Prospective Partner Analysis’s’ that would routinely be presented to the Office of the Chairman. After beginning the joint venture partner discussions, my role would shift to and I would then be responsible for performing ‘Competitive Market Analysis’ to correctly position the product in the marketplace. At the conclusion of the high level discussions, I would assist in creating the ‘Funding Approval’ presentation for review by the Office of the Chairman.

In my future position, I would like to continue working on projects with links to China to pursue positions in the following areas:
