Scouting Report by Coach Lisimba Patilla - Recruiting Specialist:

Justin Letts possesses strong on and off field leadership.  His leadership is complimented by his versatility where he plays QB, Kicker and Defensive back.  Furthermore, he has excellent instinct as a player and a tremendous work ethic, in both football and basketball.  Justin is the essence of a student-athlete - -  strong student and an equally as strong athlete.

His strengths are his athletic diversity to play multiple positions and sports at a high level.  Justin is a ball hawk as a defensive back where his quickness compliments his instinct.  As a QB he threw the ball with great accuracy and kicks the ball with pinpoint accuracy.  As a basketball player he is a floor general as the starting point guard with his on court leadership, ball handling and solid on the ball defense makes him a solid recruit for basketball as well.  His low assists to turnover ratio lead his team to the District Finals in Ohio Division One Basketball.

Areas for Improvement

Strength - As Justin becomes stronger, it will only expand his ability to play additional positions in football.  In basketball, as Justin begins to show more glimpses of scoring prowess, he is certain to become a scoring threat to compliment his ball-handling and on the ball defense.

I have had the privilege to have known and worked with Justin for over three years now through the football program at Medina High School.  As his head football coach, I can not say enough positive things about this young man.  Many strong attributes come to mind regarding Justin's character.  His intensity, work ethic, and knowledge of the game are very noticeable on and off the field.  The one major attribute that Justin seems to have accomplished is his leadership capabilities.  He is a leader by example.

Justin immediately had an impact as a sophomore in our football program.  Justin is simply an athlete.  I believe he can excel in any sport.  He is a 2 year starter playing both sides of the ball and our kicker.  Justin was our starting quarterback and when we realized we needed him to play defensive back he jumped at the challenge.  He earned the respect of the other players and coaches.  It was a pleasure to watch him grow and play.  I expect nothing but great things from his senior year.

I am excited to be able to write a positive recommendation for an athlete of mine - especially Justin.  He is a good person who will do well at whatever task he attempts.  Please feel free to call me if you have any questions at 330.636.3200.

Greg Reed

Former Head Football Coach

Medina High School

I have had the distinct pleasure of coaching Justin Letts over the past two years at Medina High School.  During this time, Justin has proven to be an asset to our football program both on and off the field.  His leadership qualities are consistently evident, and he is always focused on his goals.  Justin has a great work ethic and his motor is always running during off-season training, practices, and games.  He has tremendous focus and determination and I have yet to see anything steer Justin away from obtaining his goals.

In Northeast Ohio, football is an extremely competitive sport.  Many athletes move on to the next level and excel at their respective Universities.  Justin has the ability to do just that.  Not only does he have the physical skills needed, but more importantly, Justin has the drive and desire to make himself a better player and person everyday.  He demonstrates what it means to be a football player, and he brings that blue collar attitude every single day.  Justin wants to be the best.  When an obstacle presents itself, he works even harder to accomplish his goals and to make his team better.

An ideal football recruit is someone who possesses both the qualities of an athletic and explosive player, as well as a great deal of toughness.  This player is also intelligent and one who is unselfish and puts the team first.  Justin has all of these qualities.  Justin has the numbers that show his great speed and athleticism.  This ability is shown in games when he is a threat to score from anywhere on the field, or when he closes on a ball and intercepts a pass.  His toughness is shown when he looks for contact and plays through fatigue on both sides of the ball, as well as in the kicking game.  His actions and decision making always makes the team look good.  His work ethic is also evident in the classroom where he excels.

I am extremely confident that Justin can make a significant positive impact for your program.  He has set a very high bar for all athletes that I coach in the future.  I highly recommend him for any collegiate football program.  If you need any additional information, please don’t hesitate to contact me at 216.906.2584.

To Whom It May Concern:

It is a great privilege for me to write this letter of recommendation for Justin Letts.  He is a three-year letterman and has been a key member of our boys’ varsity basketball team here at Medina High School for the past three seasons.  We are expecting him to continue to be a valued member of our program as he prepares for his senior year.

This past season he was our starting point guard on our 20-3 conference championship team.  Although he only averaged 3.7 points per game, his play at both ends of the floor was an integral part of us becoming a championship team.  He was one of our top defensive players who loved the challenge of stopping our opponent’s best offensive guards.  Offensively, Justin was a smart, heady player who did a great job organizing our play, helping us to be a very efficient scoring team.  A true team player and winner, he cared nothing about personal accolades but only what he could do to help the team.

Most importantly, I cannot say enough good things about Justin’s character, attitude, and work ethic.  He has a tremendous desire to succeed not only on the court but in the classroom as well.  He is highly motivated and driven to excel!  Justin is a coaches’ dream in regards to his humble, selfless, team attitude and commitment to playing hard at all times.

Lastly, Justin is a young man of high integrity and character.  Simply put, he is the kind of young man any coach would want in his program.  He has been an outstanding representative of our program both on and off the court.

Please feel free to contact me at anytime if you need any other information on Justin.  I can be reached during the day at 330-636-3200 or on my cell at 330-421-1595.  I would enjoy the opportunity to tell you more about this tremendous young man.

Goal Statement

I hope to receive a full scholarship to a university for my academics or athletics.  My top academic goal is to partake in an honors program in a large university.  I would like to major in Engineering and minor in Spanish.  I have strong skills inboth of these subjects and really enjoy them.  My athletic goal is to have a starting role for a college during my freshman year.  I can play both sides of the ball including kicker.  I hope my athleticism will bring me a couple offers.  I would love to play football at any level---Div. I,II or III.  I know I can make animmediate impact for my team!  It would be the best of both worlds if I could also play point guard for a college basketball team.  I have played basketball my entire life and would love to continue at the college level.
