Director, Student Activities

Chattanooga State Community College

Coordinate all campus student activity programs to include the following: scheduling of events and facilities, supervising student organizations, and managing student activities budget. Responsibilities include advising student government leaders, overseeing marketing and publication of student activities, and Intramural Recreation and club sports. Responsible for development of policies and procedures, strategic planning geared to Student Life. Provide leadership for proven continuous progress toward student participation.  Manages financial resources for continuous program improvement. Supports institutional goals and objectives for all student affairs programs and provides resources to accomplish these objectives.  

-Counsel students on the inception of new clubs and organizations

-Assist students with compiling bylaws and constitutions

-Responsible for all student organization events and event registration forms, contracts, travel of student leaders and advisors

-Coordinate quarterly annual Student Leadership forums

-Establish networks to unite student leaders from various organizations across campus

-Collaborate with local university and regional community colleges to establish intercollegiate student activities across the region

-Create partnerships with local businesses and high schools to support student events to include Coca-cola, Buffalo Wild Wings, and Hyundai Auto Dealership among other agencies

-Provide oversight for revision of policies and procedures relating to student ID’s, Club and organization handbook, Student club and organization forms, student lockers, student life policies within the Student Handbook

-Organize international green initiatives such as Earth Day, Chattanooga AIDS awareness group, in addition to other programs

-Responsible for all promotional and marketing materials to include website design, Student Life brochures and social media outlets

-Produce yearly printed and online Student Activities calendar

-Responsible for numerous presentations to Executive Staff members relating to Student Life  developments

-Collaborate with Deans and Department heads concerning academic specific clubs and organizations

-Assist advisors with club participation during academic year to include club retention

-Oversight and participation with the following recruitment and retention activities: Fish Fry in July (campus wide), WICD Wami (career services), Freshman Mania, orientation, information sessions at senior night, information sessions at various high schools BOSSmentoring  program

-Assist with Presidential Speaker Series within the science and math departments, marketing department and media services

-Lead employee for Web ID and ID Center for student photo ID production

-Prepare and maintain budgets for Student Life and Activities, Intramurals, Cheerleading, and Athletic Concessions

-Supervise 4 employees (Two Intramural Coordinators, Activity Coordinator, and Cheerleading Sponsor)

-Serve on the retention, director’s meeting  and orientation planning committees

-Responsible for all room reservations for campus activity periods

-Oversight for all messages on electronic and bulletin boards across campus

-Various other duties include concessions at intercollegiate games, game room, locker assignments, coordinating mascot support

Athletic Facility and Operations Crew Member

University of Central Florida

As a member of the UCF Athletics Facility and Operations team, I was responsible for providing event coordination and exemplerary customer service at college athletic events.  In addition, I was also charged with the duty of maintaining athletic facility equipment and structures to ensure they were adequately prepared for upcoming athletic events.

During many of the athletic events, I served as the visiting team liaison.  This task entailed being the first contact for any needs requested or issues experienced by the other team.
