• Develops and implements internal and external communications plans.

• Develops and maintains written content to support key initiatives for use in various platforms/publications.

• Identifies and tells stories that demonstrate the impact of giving to LifeWorks and how this benefits youth and young families.

• Oversees and manages all branding, marketing, and communications activity.

• Manages leadership volunteers and staff work groups for project-based initiatives.

• Works with Senior Management Team, Division Directors, and key staff in institutionalizing a communications strategy.

• Oversees the hiring, training, supervision, and dismissal of staff and ensures staff receives the necessary resources and training.

• Researches, selects and manages outside marketing and communications vendors and contractors and is responsible for overseeing the quality, timeline and outcomes of projects delegated to such vendors.

Website and Digital Content

• Analyzes and identifies social media strategy, including most effective platforms.

• Oversees the maintenance of the LifeWorks website and social media accounts.

• Produces compelling content for social media and other digital outreach   (e. g., PowerPoints, blast emails, etc.) to supporters and constituents.

Research, Correspondence, and Media Relations

• Researches and writes talking points and correspondence for leadership to support and strengthen relationships with donors and community stakeholders.

• Serves as the primary press contact for LifeWorks; strengthens and expands existing media and influencer relationships and builds connections with new reporters and outlets.

• Develops, pitches and secures relevant, compelling stories in media outlets.

• Interviews subjects, identifies key points, and distills the information in an engaging way for a variety of audiences and across various platforms.

  • Responsible for the oversight of all stages of development of the University's new brand identity and roll out, including the following:
    • Marketing materials (brochures, social media ads, banners/signs, etc.)
    • Website re-design; social media refresh
    • Design of promotional materials (folders, posters, pens, t-shirts, etc.)
  • Created original speech content, talking points and presentations for the University president
  • Revamped the University's e-newsletter to a web-based software to more accurately measure the newsletter's reach and effectiveness 
  • Dramatically increased awareness and stakeholder engagement with social audiences across the country, including national organizations and HBCU-driven publications
  • Organized, publicized and managed unique events to recognize University students and help promote academic achievement
  • Executed, managed and promoted hundreds of on-campus events from internal University organizations to external clients and independent organizations (Earth Day ATX, Girl Scouts, Dare2Share)
  • Curated, edited, posted and cross-populated all daily content for the University's weekly newsletter, its website, various social media pages and its YouTube channel
  • Served as the University's main point of contact for all media and external organizations

New London Public Schools
  • Increased year-over-year awareness of New London Public Schools and contributed to the rise in out-of-district student enrollment through exciting combinations of marketing and public relations strategies/tactics including print, web, social media, television and radio campaigns
    • Grew the number of families applying for magnet school enrollment from 19 towns/communities to more than 30 towns/communities in two years
  • Responsible for all stages of development and distribution of district and school marketing materials including rack cards, presentations, e-magazines, brochures, pamphlets, banner stands, promotional materials etc. 
  • Created the district’s first Visual Identity and Marketing Guide to set brand standards for marketing across the district
    • Created style sheets/logo usage guidelines for the district’s magnet schools
    • Created district PowerPoint template for use in all school/public presentation
  • Edited the district's first marketing/recruitment binder for pre-, post and mid-season recruitment and marketing best practices for school administration/staff; implemented best practices of marketing/recruitment with school staff through presentations, workshops and one-on-one meetings
  • Served as the main point of contact for all media; secured coverage for school/district events through media advisories and press releases; responsible for arrangement and oversight of all interviews; provided media with statements and/or talking points during crises
  • Negotiated and managed the execution of the district's first year-long and bulk advertising contracts with local media providers (newspaper, radio and television)
    • Created written, visual and voice content for all local and regional advertising opportunities 
  • Founded individual school and district Facebook pages while also serving as the lead page administrator, maintaining a steady growth of “likes” and followers through engaging, useful contentl 
  • Maintained multiple points of access for NLPS families and community members including phone lines, the district’s social media pages, and website requests for information
  • Designed, launched and managed the district’s first mobile application for iOS and Android phones
  • Served as the sole communications member on the district’s Incident Command Structure (ICS Team) during school/district crises events; initial contributor/editor of the district’s All Hazards School Security and Safety Plan; familiar with required FEMA training modules for school safety/security
  • Successfully organized and/or marketed events between the school district and community partners (National Night Out, Fish Tales, Tugs & Sails, Halloween Town, NLPD Police Academy, Teacher Appreciation Week, United Way launch event, Celebrate New London)
  • Assigned as the district's School Governance Council Facilitator and was responsible for coordinating workshop training opportunities for more than two dozen parents, community members and local businesses to increase parent/community involvement in schools

  • The first reporter to be embedded in New London High School on a daily basis for nearly three months in order to write a series of stories on the effort to raise CAPT scores for the 2011-12 school year and present the high school to the public in a way seldom seen
  • Wrote extensively about New London Public Schools and its efforts to improve in all areas including literacy, mathematics, science and technology
