Business Support Officer

My present role at TQB has been an opportunity to transfer skills acquired during numerous years in various project and program oriented roles predominantly in the community services sector.  Since arriving at the EPO I believe I have proven myself to have a well-developed, broad set of skills with a high capacity to juggle different workflows and a strong work ethic to see them to completion. I am thankful to have been trusted and given an extraordinary amount of support from my manager and as a result I believe I have contributed the most value through the following:

  1. Redevelopment of the EPO operational plan to reflect the changing nature of workflows, project methodology and tool set used.
  2. Driving the CSC Environmental Scan Project – I am pleased to have mapped out the CSC business system as a means of identifying and isolating issues raised by our perception tools.
  3. Business Planning and Five Year Business Planning – as an action of a THPS Steering Committee I developed 5 Year Business Planning Template which I have been working with faculty to complete – there are a number of other faculties in scope for this.
  4. Activ8 Implementation – I believe I played a vital role in providing support for this software implementation project – including managing relationships with the business lead as well as the vendor. Part of this included the development of business processes, requirements and rules.

At present I am involved in the following: developing a roadmap for next two years of study abroad including corporate sponsorship and regional recruitment, Activ8 Implementation, Celcat Project Initiation (business rules, requirements etc...), ARIES, 5-year business planning as well as a couple of other smaller pieces in Higher Education and internal EPO capability development.

My role was to effectively support the office in performing an audit of the office’s digital presence; this included the development of processes around digital communications as well as improving existing tools and generating fresh digital content.

Projects Officer

Shore Community 

My role was to provide oversight to all essentially operational elements to the organisation, as such this included the management of a number of innovative projects aimed at continuous improvement, in this role I achieved the following:

  1. I established a voluntary management team to provide expert oversight with sufficient flexibility to areas such as finance, property, legal and IT.
  2. I worked with a vendor to deploy Sharepoint, Office 365, procured IT support, conducted staff training, refreshed IT assets, developed a SISP approach to IT within the organisation through a five-year plan for the function. This resulted in a more collaborative and productive office as well as a saving of 2% in operating budget.
  3. I developed a Staff Policy Manual in response to imminent workplace health and safety legislation changes in New Zealand.  This fostered a culture of organisation-wide involvement in engaging with the process of identifying and mitigating risks in the workplace to improve legislative compliance.
  4. I developed the organisation’s online presence through setting up social media channels, deploying a new CRM, creating EDMs through Mailchimp (and newsletters) and working with a vendor to develop a new website.

    Operations Coordinator

    Samaritans Purse Australia & New Zealand

    I was responsible for the operations of this international aid and development organisation’s activities in NZ and in specific their flagship project which sought to collect, inspect and export over 25,000 shoeboxes filled with donations from across NZ to the Asia Pacific region, these are my achievements:

    1. I oversaw the establishment of the Auckland warehouse and implemented significant innovative changes to internal processes around how donations were handled once received. As a result, the human resources required for this phase of the project fell by 50%.
    2. I provided IT support to the NZ Office through providing training, developing our Sharepoint Site, setting up Citrix (to connect us to our Sydney Office CRM) and vendor management.
    3. I developed and brought structure to the extensive grassroots support infrastructure of the organisation in New Zealand. As a result, we saw strong commitment from major logistics partners across the North Island.
    4. I developed a communications plan to enhance our ability to get a clear message out to all our supporters. This involved updating our CRM records, establishing our social media presence and developing EDMs through Mail Chimp. This ensured that our communications were going out successfully to 90% of our database, which for the organisation was a record.

    In addition to this I supported regional managers with the development of numerous events to effectively engage and develop stakeholder relationships.

      Program Coordinator

      Global Care

      As the coordinator of Global Care at Durack my role was to provide direction and support to a service that provided over a thousand local families with access to low-cost food.

      • Through conducting research into the service’s social context (drawing on NGO statistics & ABS statistics) I was able to bring clarity to some of the organisations weaknesses and opportunities.
      • I redeveloped internal processes surrounding our delivery model and our accounting of goods received which saved eight staff hours every week.
      • I developed a network of likeminded organisations with in the community which we could partner with to provide more holistic care.
      • Set up and managed digital communication channels.

      In collaboration with the owners, I aided in the establishment of a new business which sold a combination of imported and domestically produced outdoor furniture as well as the building of outdoor gazebos and Bali Huts.

      • In collaboration with the owners I developed a brand and marketing campaign surrounding the launch of the business.
      • I developed invaluable customer service experience which contributed towards securing repeat custom.
      • Established and developed social media channels including Facebook & Twitter.
