The Slipway

In 2013 I had the privilege of working for The Slipway in Thomaston, Maine. In this restaurant I had many task, not just one, but my main task was being a runner, which means making sure every customer gets their food and are  satisfied with what they ordered. Apart from that I had responsibilities in the kitchen such as preparing the food. This way I learned a little bit of everything in the restaurant business.

Event Management

Nantucket Clambake Company

Working with Susan Warner was such a great experience for me. One of the most famous catering company on Nantucket. As a full-service catering company, she is available to plan all aspects of any event, from major components like menus and locations all the way down to those fine details that will make any event rememberable.  While working for Susan Warner I had more than one task. For every different event she organized, no matter if it was a wedding, a birthday or a function. I was given a different task each time. This way I learned a bit about everything in the event business. From preparing the food, to serving the clients, to setting up the area to designing the event, and making the event very special. One of my high lights was organizing the event for the celebrity Sharon Stone taking place in the Dream Land Theater, Nantucket which was sponsored by the wife of the CEO of Google, Wendy Schmidt.

For the summer of 2015 I decided to go back to Nantucket and work for this company again.

Retail Business

Zero Main, ACK

In the summer of 2014 I had the privilege of working with a wonderful woman Noel, owner of a great woman's clothing store. Very sophisticated, casual, special occasion, multi-generational shop. Located on 34 Centre Street in Nantucket, MA. I had the opportunity of learning about fashion and having a knowledge of learning the different  variety of clothing companies around the world. I have improved my organization skills, my responsibility skills , and as well following very specific tasks.  Furthermore I have developed many communication skills with customers.  Throughout the summer I have expanded my self confidence by working at Zero Main.

I had such a great experience working for Zero Main and I have decided to go back for the summer of 2015 and work for them again.

Retail Business

Carib Wind Cabarete

My most recent employment, until May 2015, was in a retail establishment called Carib Wind Cabarete. This active retail store carries major sports/beach brands such as Roxy, Billabong, Quicksilver, Dakine and many others. In addition to the retail space, Carib Wind Cabarete is home to the world-famous Laser Training Center where some of the finest sailors in the world come to train in the Laser Olympic Class dinghy. Due to past retail experience, I was charged with receiving new merchandise and entering it into the store’s system. In addition, I counted the money each morning and evening and placed alarms and price tags on new products. I enjoyed interacting with customers, helping them find the clothing, shoes or sailing equipment they required and handling sales at the register area.

Perhaps the high point of my time at Carib Wind came when a Master’s regatta was held in the bay just in front of the Laser Center. Since I have much experience in photography, I was asked to go along in one of the chase boats and record the regatta from the water. This was an action-packed, exciting experience, and I enjoyed learning about the intricacies of sailing these fast, athletic little boats. I look back with great pleasure on my time at Carib Wind Cabarete, and on the friends I made among my co-workers.

Undergraduate

International School Of Sosua

Small in comparison with other schools, the International School of Sosua (ISS) has approximately  250 students. The small student-to-teacher ratio allows for greater comprehension and understanding of the subject being taught, while making the socializing aspect easier and faster. ISS was  a fantastic campus experience.  When it comes to quality education; it gets right up there, allowing  many students  to gain acceptance  at colleges and universities all around the world. I finished my high school year on the 13th of June of 2014, and have decided to take a gap year to experience new things and to figure out what I truly would like to study.
