Interface Associates

Responsible for all new and sustaining equipment design (system and mechanical) for a leader in angioplasty catheter mfg. equipment and responsible for a catheter development team.

  • Managed catheter development engineers until catheter manufacturing became a separate division.
  • Designed and led the development of multiple new equipments.
  • Led the relooking of the product line, implementing multiple improvements and enabling CE marking.
  • Designed the first automated angioplasty balloon folding and wrapping machine, with a throughput 2.5 to 3 times higher than similar equipment on the market.
  • Managed catheter development engineers until catheter manufacturing became a separate division.
  • Formalized the development process and established a standard for the output of design engineering. Led the transition from ISO 9001 to ISO 13485 for the engineering department.

Process Engineering Manager

Responsible for Manufacturing and Process Engineering for a manufacturer of high precision moving-coil actuators.

  • Designed, built, tested and validated a new assembly floor plan, based on assembly cells.
  • Led the clean-up of BOMs to allow a better control of inventory and improve on-time deliveries.
  • Served as customer contact for production and quality issues for our main customer, Assembleon.

Quality Assurance Manager

Newport Kensington

Responsible for setting up the base of a quality system compliant with ISO 9001-2000, and for establishing customer required quality assurance processes for a technology leader providing atmospheric robots for the front-end semiconductor industry.

  • Implemented a Process Control Plan resulting in the final qualification of a loadport by Applied Material.

Engineering Manager

Various positions with Isméca Group as follows: Ismeca USA, Vista, CA, USA Engineering Manager (2000 to 2001) – Responsible for reorganizing and managing the 25 members engineering department of a semiconductor back-end capital equipment manufacturer.

  • Coordinated activities with Ismeca headquarters, sought corporate funds for new developments, and traveled frequently to Europe to report on progress.
  • Introduced an industrialization team with the goal of implementing design for manufacturability, reducing cost and lead-time by reducing the number of machine components (modules) and bringing them through a full testing and cost reduction program. Potential gain from the work of the team after 3 months of activity: 25% of the assembly and cabling time for a standard machine.
  • Personally managed several projects, including the newest members of the successful "MP-family".

Ismeca USA, Vista, CA, USA

Business Area Manager (1998 to 2000) – Responsible for the “New Products and Special Machines” Business Area, and thus responsible for all new developments.

  • Designed new concepts for integrated finishing handlers (including electrical test, laser marking, vision inspection and final packaging), calculated and presented the quotations to the customers, negotiated the specifications and managed directly several projects (including P&L responsibility) through the delivery and acceptance at the customer's site.
  • Traveled frequently to customers such as Motorola, Infineon, and ST, in the USA, Europe and Asia, in order to understand their needs and to successfully negotiate with them.
  • Led the development of the very successful MP400 "Tray scanner", the MP100 taping machine and several semi-custom machines.

Ismecam, Carlsbad, CA, USA Quality Manager (1995 to 1998) – Responsible for all activities related to quality, including quality planning, quality assurance and quality control. Built and implemented a quality management system, which resulted in the ISO 9001 certification of the company.

Isméca, La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland Project Manager (1993 to 1995) – Responsible for managing and coordinating multiple projects in the semiconductor automation field, more precisely handlers with testing, vision inspection and final packaging capabilities.

  • Managed concurrently up to fifteen projects ranging from US$ 100,000 to US$ 1,000,000.
  • Performed technical backup for the application engineers, including specification negotiations with the customers, and the development of new concepts.
  • Traveled frequently to customers such as Motorola, Siemens and Samsung, in the USA, Europe and Asia, in order to understand their needs and to successfully negotiate with them.
