Internet Communications Director

Michigan Universal Health Care Access Network

I was brought in to rebuild the organization's Internet and social media presence ahead of their annual fundraising dinner. My efforts helped our team sell out this event, which raised over 10K in contributions.

• Designed and ran a strategic online campaign to promote the dinner and educate Michigan residents about the organization's advocacy work.

• Wrote new copy to more clearly define what the network does and how they benefit the community.

• Rebuilt their website and Facebook page, making them more attractive and engaging to users.

• Crafted persuasive fundraising emails and an online petition.• Presented to the board of directors on Internet strategy. Advised them on best practices.

initiative to protect collective bargaining on the November 2012 ballot.• Facilitated meetings between union groups to plan strategy and orchestrate petitioning efforts.

Used  these platforms to inform activists and engage them to petition for the campaign.• Gave activist trainings, made presentations to the community, and organized several signature gathering events each week.• Ran operations at our Royal Oak, MI office. Managed volunteers, petition distribution, and data entry efforts.• Helped ensure the collection of at least 1,200 signatures each week in Oakland County. • We eventually turned in nearly 685,000 signatures, far more than the 323,000 needed to get on the ballot.

Skilled political organizer and Internet communications specialist currently seeking work opportunities in political communication

I am interested in working on progressive political issues, campaigns, or for non-profit organizations.

My experience includes working as a Regional Field Director for We Are The People Michigan, a statewide coalition of unions and progressive groups that advocates for workers' rights, and being the Internet Communications Director for the Michigan Universal Health Care Access Network. I have also worked on state House races and several ballot initiative campaigns.

These experiences have helped me understand how to make practical, real-world change occur through both online and traditional field organizing. Additionally, I am a graduate of the New Organizing Institute's Digital Strategies program, which helped me to further hone my digital campaign skills.
