Seeking a Catholic education, standout athlete Joseph Pedulla played rugby and basketball at the Franciscan University of Steubenville in Ohio, where he studied political science. Throughout grade school, Mr. Pedulla proved himself on the basketball court and in the swimming pool, winning numerous accolades for his abilities in both sports. Joseph Pedulla continued swimming and playing basketball through high school, when he also began playing football. After enrolling at the Franciscan University of Steubenville, Mr. Pedulla used his speed and his stamina on the rugby field. Rugby at the Franciscan University of Steubenville remains a popular sport, one supported by residents of both Steubenville and nearby Wintersville, both of which are located in Jefferson County.

Currently a resident of Edmond, Oklahoma, Joseph Pedulla was unable to continue attending the Franciscan University of Steubenville because of his financial situation. Mr. Pedulla remained determined to attend a Catholic institution of higher learning, however, and after saving up for half a year he enrolled at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, when he was 19 years old. At Benedictine College, Joseph Pedulla continued playing rugby.

Before enrolling at the Franciscan University of Steubenville, Joseph Pedulla graduated from Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School. During Mr. Pedulla’s sophomore year at Bishop McGuinness, he played junior varsity basketball. The following year, he played on the varsity team and started several games. That same year, Joseph Pedulla and his team played in the state championship, taking home the 4A title. He applied the same drive that won him and his teammates the state title toward his games at the Franciscan University of Steubenville.

In high school, Joseph Pedulla earned recognition as a gifted athlete, and Bishop McGuinness’ football coaches and players continually asked him to play football. Mr. Pedulla agreed to play during his senior year, and he went on to help the team earn a state runner-up title. Before joining the Franciscan University of Steubenville, Joseph Pedulla led his high school basketball team to one more victory, achieving a state runner-up title. As a rugby player at the Franciscan University of Steubenville, Mr. Pedulla enjoyed the honor of playing before crowds from both Steubenville and Wintersville. Joseph Pedulla played flanker on the Franciscan University of Steubenville's rugby team, which continues to enjoy support from residents of Jefferson County.

Joseph Pedulla currently works full time in Oklahoma City, where he also attends the University of Oklahoma.
