About Joseph Palmeri

After earning a BS in biomedical science from Oklahoma State University, Dr. Joseph Palmeri earned an MD from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. He then served a one-year internal medicine internship at the University of Oklahoma-Tulsa, and later, in his final year as an anesthesiology resident at New York University, was selected as a chief resident. Through the three-year residency, Dr. Joseph Palmeri gained experience in anesthesia across all surgical areas, including ear, nose, and throat procedures, urologic, orthopedic, and cardiothoracic operations, as well as neurosurgery. He also provided interventional pain management services and applied epidurals for patients going through childbirth.

Since joining Anesthesiologists Associated, Inc., in 2012, Dr. Palmeri has practiced anesthesiology at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He assists with all manner of surgeries by administering the proper medications for patients to safely avoid pain and consciousness during operations. For heart surgeries such as coronary bypass grafting and valve replacement, Dr. Joseph Palmeri utilizes transesophageal echocardiography to assess patients’ heart function throughout their procedure. He also reduces post-operative pain for orthopedic surgery patients by applying local anesthetics and nerve blocks before the operation.

Dr. Palmeri possesses board certification in anesthesiology and belongs to such medical organizations as the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the American Medical Association. Outside of his professional life, he enjoys reading, working out, cooking, and traveling, and has visited countries in Europe, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
