about  Joseph Bisignano DVM

Throughout his career, veterinary internal medicine specialist Joseph Bisignano, DVM, has demonstrated a commitment to the thorough care of animals. While studying toward his degree in biochemistry and psychology at New York University, where he received the selective Thomas G. Labreque SmartStart Scholarship, he served as a marine mammal trainer with Brooklyn's Wildlife Conservation Society. In 2006, Dr. Joseph Bisignano entered the doctor of veterinary medicine (DVM) program at Western University of Health Sciences.

In pursuit of additional practical experience, Joseph Bisignano, DVM, traveled to South Africa after his first year of study to serve as a veterinary preceptor for the wildlife in South Africa's national parks. There, he gained diverse experience in caring for leopards, snakes, elephants, cheetahs, and many other species. The following year, he dedicated a summer to training and caring for animals at Dolphin Quest in Waikoloa, Hawaii, where he advanced his familiarity with such procedures as blood collection and cytology. Now board-certified in his specialty after four years of postgraduate training, Dr. Bisignano practices at VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital and writes for the DVM360 website.
