Jorge Cifuentes


After the construction of the US embassy in Bogota where he served as a Project Manager, in 1994 Jorge founded JC Architectura, which would perform  architecture, planning, interior design, project and construction management services. In 2006, after accepting an independent consultant assignment for an industrial project in southwest Louisiana, he moved back to the U.S. where he continued his excellent work. Through his international practice, Jorge has introduced critical aspects to his work and completed many outstanding projects. 

 He has practiced in challenging environments, implementing the best tools to effectively explode his assets and strategic thinking capabilities. He focuses on developing healthy projects, increasing productivity and responsiveness to extremely diverse climates and sites, and sustainability. Through his work, he has gained good reputation and immense professional rigor with a proven capacity for creating and innovating.

Bringing to life his belief in-which professional knowledge should be shared among new  generations, he has worked as a professor at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana,  Universidad Piloto, Universidad Externado de Colombia and Universidad Autónoma del Caribe, and regularly presents lectures at different superior educational institutes and public institutions.

Responsibilities include managing all phases from conceptual to detail designs and construction documents for multiple projects, including residential, institutional, recreational and commercial buildings; providing leadership in the performance of all activities related to the execution of both design and construction works; covering contracts administration, quality control, strategic planning and cost control; managing capital and office's day-to-day operations; developing business relation with both private and institutional clients; setting the business unit's priorities and objectives; overseeing the execution of all projects and ensuring client's expectations and corporate objectives are achieved; guaranteeing compliance of operational short-term and long-term goals within overall corporate objectives, along with development of long-term plans for business units and establish service objectives and priorities to coordinate teams. Dillingham Construction International Inc

Managed attainable project objectives in the construction of a new U.S. embassy. Key project tasks included managing subcontractors and professional staffs; determining project needs and scope of work; identifying potential problems and implementing corrective actions; reviewing schedules with sub-contractors and international providers; requesting and negotiating bids with local and international suppliers; preparing change orders, RFI and RFC; coordinating construction drawings, punch list and shop drawings. Involved in the procurement of construction materials and all related contract documents. Considerable latitude in determining best approaches to the project's goals.

Managed all phases of a large Airport renovation project and participated in the construction documentation of a large bank headquarters project in Europe. Managed activities of a multi-disciple group of in-house personnel and numerous consultants. Coordinated proposal preparations, along with Conceptual, Schematic and Detail Designs. Involved in accomplishing the stated project objectives and conducted periodic on-site meetings, along with supervisions of construction sites to verify compliance with Detail Design Documents.

Extensive experience in planning and designing multiple projects of renovation and new terminals at airports John F. Kennedy, Newark and LaGuardia for several airlines and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Responsibilities included coordinating staff's activities associated with Planning, Conceptual, Schematic and Detail Designs phases and preparing construction documents. Engaged in the formulation of new proposals, specifications and submittals. Participated in the Conceptual Design and Terminal Planning Phases.

Responsibilities included developing new proposals; performing onsite surveys and report preparations; executing CAD software to formulate designs, prepare architectural plans and produce construction documents for several school projects in the New York metropolitan area; coordinating submittals developed by consultant engineers and technical designers. Accomplished stated deadlines and provided my knowledge in tasks associated with architectural design, zoning and building codes.
