About Jorge Chalela

After receiving his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor in 1993, Mr. Jorge León Chalela went on to establish his own practice. His practice, "the Chalela Law Group, Attorneys at Law,” serves Pinellas County, Hillsborough, Polk, Pasco, and Manatee Counties, as well as the Federal United States District Courts throughout the nation. The practice is known for its concentration in the areas as personal injury law, immigration law, and criminal law, with a focus on the most serious of criminal allegations. Jorge Chalela is known as one of the only private attorneys in the Tampa Bay Area whom is a leader in the complicated forensic concentration of sex crimes, lewd and lascivious molestation, and major crimes against children. Mr. Jorge Chalela is a celebrated attorney. In 2002, Mr. Chalela was named both the Employee and Litigator of the Year by the Hillsborough County Public Defender. With nearly 200 jury trials to date making up his litigation experience, Mr. Jorge L. Chalela has earned a reputation as both an experienced attorney and an innovative defender of the accused in criminal court. Florida Bar Association member Jorge L. Chalela is committed to providing to the public a regular caseload of pro bono and legal clinic fee representation for serious criminal felony cases. He is a member of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and is admitted before the United States Court of Appeal for the 11th Circuit, among other high profile courtrooms. When not researching for cases, representing his clients before the court, or diligently preparing cases with clients at the jails, Mr. Jorge L. Chalela enjoys reading classic literature. Among a list of his favorite authors are Fyodor Dostoevsky, Friedrich Nietzsche, Plato, and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Mr. Jorge L. Chalela is also an active participant in such athletic activities as power weightlifting, long-distance swimming, and karate. Bilingual Jorge L. Chalela (fluent in both oral and written Spanish and English) is also an aficionado of competitive speed chess.
