ICT & English Functional Skills Lecturer

Responsible for nine groups of learners aged 16+ • Developed scheme of work for the full year • Integrated new technological developments in order to provide learners with blended learning. • Responsible within the functional skills team at Readin College for the development of a new type of literacy software resource, which allows students with learning difficulties/short attention spam to feel engaged and interact with the curricular activites. • Preparing students for the new specification Functuional Skills ICT/English test. • High percentage pass rate above 90% in all groups including two groups 100% pass rate. • Pastoral as well as proactive initiatives offering extra lessons/tutorial time to students in order to ensure they are well prepared before the exam. • Application of positive behavioural techniques in order to deal with difficult students, rather than diminishing/alienating them from the course. • Experienced with students who suffer from learning disabilities, integrating exercises which provide equal opportunities and inclusion to those who are at a disadvantage in order for them to acquire a status of equality within the class.

Media Studies / Key Skills Lecturer

Responsible for teaching Media Studies to a class of 25 GCSE students and Key Skills to 240 students distributed among 14 classes (engineering, motor vehicle and electronics) • Employed kinaesthetic, visual and auditory approach to make lessons interesting and interactive; modelling and organising student-led group sharing • Integrated technology through the development of units that included computer literacy and visual aids • Provided differentiated lesson plans and schemes of work within both the English and Media Academy and the School of Engineering • Short, medium and long term planning of lessons to meet the National Curriculum requirements • Adapted activities to meet the needs and learning styles of individual learners • Ensured all students had access to an appropriate curriculum, in line with government guidelines, that would ensure progression in their education and meet their academic and intellectual needs • Worked as part of a team in order to guarantee that all school policies were followed • Encouraged parents/guardians to be actively involved in the progress and education of the students • Offered pastoral guidance and support to a form • Liaised with the special needs department to make sure all lower groups were achieving the necessary progress and were receiving adequate support • Provided high quality lessons for all my students and meet departmental targets
