Welcome to my e-potfolio. Here you will find my cover letter, resume, and my professional skills. I am a Criminal Justice student at Lethbridge College. I am hoping to obtain a career in a police agency by utilizing my education and skills.
My mission is to use my education and skills to help the community where I establish a career in. My goal is to help through the areas of community policing, victim services and other areas of the agency.
My vision is to help the community get involved with law enforcement to establish and create a safe society within that community. My goal is that the agency I am involved with will create a rapport with the residents to develop this safe community.
As a summer student, I observed and assisted the transport officers during road side inspections, and was able to complete some inspections with the officers to apply what they had taught me. This included filling out inspection reports alongside the transport officers. I also had to ensure that the service vehicles were clean and operationally ready to use. I was able to learn the basics of the job as well as utilize some of my previous knowledge.
The biggest component of my job was to build the different styles of trusses used in developing roofs. Other duties included organizing and prepared the trusses for shipment and keeping a clean and organized work environment. I worked in a small group that consisted of me and four others. This provided me experience in a team environment.
The main area of my duties was to fill the hopper with insulation. My other duties included cleaning out the back of the trucks, unpacking and packing up equipment needed for each job, and I was given the opportunity to drive trucks to different locations.
While working at the potato farm, my duties included piling and sorting through potatoes, grating potatoes, keeping area clean which was necessary when dealing with vegetables, moved dirt while driving dump trucks and operating skid steers.
I worked as a courtesy clerk and therefore, my duties varied from day to day. Some of my duties included: filling and organizing shelves, helping customer with any question they had, help customer carry groceries to their vehicles, managed stock orders, kept a clean and tidy environment, and most importantly I worked in a team atmosphere with members from other departments as well as my own.
Boys and Girls Club - September 2013
Volunteered to help as a security member for a one day event with the kids who attended the event. Walked around and monitored the kids activities. I also got to participate in some of the activities, This allowed for me to act as a role model to the other kids who were participating in the event.
Central Alberta Crime Prevention Centre - June 2014-August 2014
Had the opportunity to assist at 3 of the community barbecues that were hosted by CACPC. This included cooking burgers, helping customers with their buns, pop, water etc. I also had the chance to help with delivering information about the centre to the residents. This was done by providing pamphlets, booklets, and other information packages. I also had the opportunity to volunteer in the centre with creating brochures, and SMILE cards.
- Establish a Career
- Have a family
- Create a balance between my career and my family life
I am currently enrolled in my fourth semester of the Criminal Justice Policing Diploma. I will graduate with my Diploma in December 2014.
I graduated from ELCHS in 2012 with a high school diploma.
In 2011, I joined a mission with other students in my grade, where we drove by bus to Tijuana Mexico. We stayed for two weeks and during that time we completed a lot of charitable events. Here we built two houses for different families. We set up charity functions where we collected clothing, food, school supplies and other necessities to give back to the community. Another thing that we did, was interact with the kids of the community by engaging them in sporting activities. These include football, soccer and other games they introduced to us.
My hobbies are playing hockey, snowboarding, and working out. I like to travel and hope to travel around the world in the upcoming years. Throughout high school I participated in hockey, football, cross country, track and field, and kickboxing. In college I participated in the campus recreational sports. These include floor hockey, and ice hockey.
