Jonathan was born in Ireland and moved to Australia with his family after completing his Secondary Education. He was one of the first graduates of the HITLab AU Undergraduate program. During his final year of studies, he was required to work within a team environment and create an application that ran the duration of the year. The project that Jonathan was involved in was titled Worldplay and included 9 other students from mixed backgrounds. Jonathan was chosen as team leader for the full duration of the project which became so successful it achieved media coverage in TV, Newspaper and Radio(Southern Cross, Examiner, ABC Radio and Triple Jay). During this time Jonathan participated in interviews and public speaking.

After graduating, Jonathan founded his own company called O’Duffy(which was later renamed to TemperTantrum) and was also involved in a number of other startup companies.

Before arriving at HITLab NZ to undertake his Masters Degree, Jonathan worked as a Tutor for HITLab AU for one year. During this time he helped write & create the course material for Virtual Reality. As recognition of his time at HITLab AU, a number of his students nominated him for a teaching award which the University granted in April 2014. Jonathan continues to teach and help through his YouTube channel. To this end he has founded a society called FTR whose purpose is to further the understanding and education of its members by creating meaningful and worthwhile application in Virtual & Augmented Reality.

Today Jonathan is continuing on his education with the completion of HITLab NZ MHIT program and continues to be an active member for a number of organizations as well as running his own company which has released its first published game - UFWow. A far cry from his original career goal of becoming a Zoologist like David Attenborough. Jonathan hopes to use his skills to create applications that are of benefit to people and help in some meaningful way(Serious Games).
